That's great to hear. I consider this one of the prime examples of what is great about indie gaming, and I really enjoy what you're creating. What are your thoughts on the current completion level of the game? I've decided to not go back until it's in late alpha at the very earliest, as I rather not become overly familiar with the story (I've 'beat' it twice now, and I fear any more and I'd make getting to new content later on a chore) or for that matter the world. I guess another way to put that question is, how large to you plan to make the game in the end? In line with the classics of yesteryear, such as Arcanum or Fallout? Or a more condensed, focused experience?

No matter the course of development, or length, I wish you the best in this endevour. Whatever your plans, I can honestly say I enjoyed my playthroughs of Underrail more than the entirity of certain D&D RPGs.

Hey Styg, I have a question regarding the development of the game. Are you doing this as a one man team while working? If so, have you considered doing a kickstarter or indiegogo to be able to work full time on this, or hire an additional programmer/artist etc.? I absolutely love what you've done so far, and it has such potential that it'd be a shame if it is dwarfed in size simply because of work overload. You're a great developer from what I can tell, and no matter what, I wish you the best. You've made something great, and that's in this early form.

Should be able to shift+left click while there's a box icon over it. If that doesn't work, the developer is online. Maybe they can help.

First of all, I've tried many of these types of games, from Edge of Space to Terraria and many games in between. This is by far the best premise for one. Man (or, I guess, woman) v. Nature via light? Incredible.

That being said, I would really appreciate two things: One, a male avatar. Not a huge deal, but I like playing as a male, because I'm a male. Two, an auto-save feature of some sort. This is a big deal. I've become wrapped up more times than I can count in the past few days (which is wonderful) and then, woops. Game crashes (not wonderful at all). I then lose progress of what I was doing, making the game a more monotenous affair than it needs to be.

At any rate, great game, great job so far and I'm really looking forward to seeing you continue to make the game fantastic. It seems to have more of a place in this world than Edge of Space does, and it does something different enough from Starbound to absolutely justify its existence. Again, great job.

So let me get this straight. The game isn't finished, despite saying it is, and I spent 10 dollars on something I... Cannot download?

I try to cut people a lot of slack. This, however? Unacceptable mistake in my mind.

Great answer. I'll steal it if I ever hear anyone comparing the two, given that I absolutely love both games. Yours for what it is and can be, and Starbound for what I know Terraria was and for what Starbound could be. I was simply curious how you handled that comparison, given that on the surface, the two share many similarities, which can't and, probably shouldn't be denied. I think the charm and gameplay of both seem very much separated from one another.

Either way, love what you guys are doing, and given you seemed to have fixed the game up into a very proper state already, I'd say you all can get the game to shine like some wonderfully obscure metaphor I'm not clever enough to come up with. Best of luck!

Oh, and thanks for that tip. Helps, as I tend to not enjoy Desura being on unless I'm downloading indie games from there.

Fantastic. Thanks for the updates. I actually got a try to play it once I saw it, and the game works fairly flawlessly :) Now, if only Desura wouldn't suck so much RAM, we'd be solid, haha.

Thanks Aijou, really looking forward to see where this game goes over time as it improves little by little. How are you going to handle the similarities people will inevitably point out between Edge of Space and Starbound? Unrelated, just curious what the devs think about that.

That's fantastic. I'm truly looking forward to get some playtime in, as it seems like a wonderful concept and it'd be great to see it evolve over time. I'll be sure to keep up with any news about updates, and until then, I shall be waiting with bated breath.

(Seems your delayed response was nothing compared to mine, eh?)

Oh for sure. I don't mind it at all: That's the whole deal you get into when buying an alpha game. I just hope everything goes as smoothly as they can, or I'll start going into withdrawals. I'm alright getting hot and cold flashes, so I think I'll lick the bottom of the bottle and do the last area I haven't done ;) Best of luck Styg.

Cool. Then Ludovin shall be sleeping in his bedroom, until he is called up for junk duty once again. How well is development going? Not sure how you work, but do you have an average release time between updates? I can't wait to get back into the world of Underrail. You've hooked me, man. I need MORE.

That sounds fantastic. I actually made a character, and was like, 'Screw it. Just going to walk straight to the light, Metabolism, Tracking, Medic, Strong it up, no negatives. Go.', and managed to get there by hiding my tracks... Which made the game completely different for me... Even if I did still get tore up by a Dogman a few days after, haha. Up until then I sort of had resigned to make a base at the Cyrolab and survive as long as possible, which wasn't long at all.

Overall, I'm dammed excited by what you said. It'll make getting to Detroit really feel like an accomplishment and a relief, after you manage to get in at least. Have you considered a sort of, become croney for DMC main faction and eventually try to earn a place within their society/get a normal life back type of thing? If it was hard enough, it'd definitely be a satisfying ending to know you live your days out in peace after the hell you went through.

Anyhow, I don't want to be ridiculous about how much I type here. Thanks a ton for the response. As I said, I play this game almost more than any other right now (Which is remarkable, given all the AAA titles I still haven't touched), so the game clearly has hit a nerve with me. I probably play three games a day of it, and I've yet to get even remotely bored by it, so that's a good sign.

Again, thanks!

But I'm such a likable mind destroying junk mogol! Uh, little spoilers, I guess. So,

SPOILERS

Is there any other mission beyond the recovery of the motherboard for the drill? Main mission, that is. Seem to be at an impasse, so I'm sort of just assuming there's nothing left to do.

Except we do have to watch it if we want to watch a preview. For this game. That we may want to play. Yes, it's free, but bandwidth is not, and I'd rather not waste any of it on a game I'm not sure I'll like. Or on Pewdiepie, because he is simply ear rape for 13 year olds that find him funny or cute, depending on gender and sexual preference. Mostly sexual preference.

Are you guys guys considering making a game based around Orlandes? As in, a traditional CRPG of some sort? The world seems rich enough that it could make a dammed fine world for a story at any point within the history that is provided.

Even releasing a simple CRPG based around An Assassin in Orlandes, or (I haven't played Undercity yet) based in the Catacombs as a dungeon crawler... I don't know, personally, I would nerdgasm at that, as I'm getting seriously invested in this world. Not quite as invested as I am in TES, but a bit more than Witcher, but that could change, haha.

Thanks for doing these, though. These types of books are something I've always wanted to experience, but never could truly find.

I agree with your statement, not with the rhetoric, though. Illwinter had nothing to do with pricing, that was the publisher. Sure, I DESPISE how they treat me as a customer (Having to pay to download it for a year? Are you kidding me?) but I wouldn't have put up with that and pulled my pants down if I didn't think I'd enjoy the hell out of the game. And I still do. That being said: They really ****** me off with their pricing and download schemes. It just felt like some 2001 gaming website where choice wasn't an option, and they just... Never moved away from it and got with the times. If they had, I gurantee you a Dominions 4 would be released, and would be front and center at 'Best games of the Indie revolution' already. They only hurt themselves, really.

Holy ****, guys. 'scuse the language, but: This, is pretty much more than I could hope for with this game. Now, getting the DMC.... That'll probably never happen for me, as I seem to die MILES from the bright light, but hey.

Few questions: Will you be making the city in the hexagonal style of the main map, or are you going to switch up the gameplay drastically if you get to DMC? I don't keep up with anything other than Desura, so I don't know if that is common knowledge or not.

Another question I have is: How will you handle choice within the city? Is it pretty much going to be a REALIZE WHAT HAPPENS, THE END sort of deal, or are you going to greatly expand the game when you get there and have some sort of end game to it where you have to transition to daily life again? Okay, probably won't get an answer for that, but I'll try anyhow.

And lastly, and just as hopeful as the last question is, any hints you can provide in the storyline once you get there? Just a tiny little piece of information? Such as, does Detroit let you in, or do you have to sneak in? Is there some sort of oppressive regime (SkyCorp, I believe is the name you hear of the mercenary police?) in Detroit? How much influence will you have over your fate once you get to Detroit? That's sort of 4 questions in one, but, can't blame a guy for fishing for information on one of his most played games recently, right?

Good work on it, even if I still can't seem to recover from the most basic of wounds, or avoid them, ha. Definitely will be playing this one for years to come, well after release.

For me, all future updates I'm considering expansion packs/DLC. The game is in a complete enough form (For me, at least) that I don't mind playing it all the way through now, and seeing what is added in later updates. It's really a fantastic adventure.

So, I found this dog in The Junkyard, K2, and was wondering (With as limited spoilers as possible) if it's possible to A) Make the dog not growl at you somehow (perhaps some item?) and B) Is he related to a quest in some way (which sort of ties in with A).

I guess it'd be too much to hope for him following me around, right? I haven't found any hints of companions thus far.

EDIT: Oh, and by the way Styg, wanted to thank you for the game. Typically don't thank people for games I buy, because, ya know, I'm the customer, but this game? Something I've been wanting for ages. So, thanks Styg.

Hey guys, while I greatly enjoy your game, the memory leaks are quite bad at this point. Hopefully, it can be fixed sometime in the near future, as until then my computer (which is no slouch) can't run it for more than 5 minutes without crashing the game, or, in one instance, hard locking my computer. Great concepts, just... Can't play it yet.

I think the dual clients is what does it to my computer personally, as it seems the play client starts gradually increasing the longer I play, which eventually gets prioritized and then the hosting client shuts down.

Best of luck with development, and I'm looking forward to playing the game. Until then, effectively a pre-order.
