SnakeTheFox @ Aliens vs. Predator 2 Master Server Patch (2.4)

I just had this mouse issue, and this patched fixed it for me. Not rubbing it in, just leaving this comment to let people know they should give this patch a try, at least. Sorry it didn't work for you guys.

GPU prices in general are asinine anymore, I'm still using a 970 and aside from a few triple A showboat games it still runs everything fine at 1080p. I'm done with PC upgrades until the prices are reasonable, and if they never are then I'm done with PC gaming.

Playing as US, on the first turn it allowed me to select the Constellation class frigate to build at the initial shipyard. I started building one, but on turn 2 it had it's turns remaining greyed out, and by turn 3 it was missing from the build queue entirely.

Also make sure you're running MCC in the anti-cheat disabled/mods-compatable version (when you launch through steam, it'll ask which one you want to launch).

Been enjoying 0.90 a bunch and I have a couple questions about SotP2.

1) I'm not particularly knowledgeable about the exact mechanics of PBRs, but is that a deferred rendering technique? And if so, will the multi-sample anti-aliasing already in SOSE still work?

One problem I have with a lot of modern games is that they almost all use some form of deferred rendering technique which I have heard does not play well with "true" anti-aliasing methods like MSAA/SSAA, and that is why most modern games are shipped only with post-processing based AA implementations like FXAA/TXAA. Personally I find these AA methods absolutely destroy the clear visual fidelity of a game by introducing a very, very noticeable "blur" or "smear" to everything, particularly with TXAA if either the character or an object is in motion (this is independent of motion blur).

2) Is there any chance for an optional setting to turn off ship team colors? I know this is a very minor pet peeve, but I find it immersion breaking that all my UNSC ships have red/blue/green/etc. stripes and lines all over them. I understand why this is there for multiplayer team games, but being that I play exclusively against the AI, it'd be nice to be able to optionally remove those glaringly bright paint jobs and just have them be the usual UNSC grey without any stripes. Perhaps just an optional file that adds complete transparency to the team color textures on the ships? It's probably doable user-side with some file edit but I don't have a clue how.

I don't know why I'm bothering to answer a decade-old comment on a dead mod I only found randomly through google image search, but:

If you mean the brown one, it's an unnamed "Separatist Cruiser" that appears in Star Wars: Republic Commando.

It also greatly increases visibility to threats as well as dismount speed. There's plenty of real-life examples of troop transports that are open topped. Before the prevalence of airburst artillery they were pretty standard (and airburst artillery, and artillery in general, doesn't seem especially prevalent in the Star Wars universe, so...).

But making any artistic decisions regarding something that's already tactically absurd (an 8-legged war mech) on real life minutia is silly anyway. It's whatever looks cooler.

If you already own it on GOG/Disk then just pirate the Steam version, honestly. I don't see how that's hurting anyone, frankly it should be on the developer/distributor (idk who was responsible for the recent Steam patch) to keep versions updated and compatible anyway, not on you to eat the cost of that and buy it twice.

She "stopped" him from "throwing away his life" by ******* CRASHING INTO HIM. IN AN AIRSPEEDER. AT HIGH SPEED. That's an action that would be very, very likely to kill one or both parties involved, were it not for their plot armor.

Imagine if to "stop" a friend from sacrificing themselves, you crashed your car into their car at 100+ mph and expected nobody to die from it. Pretty stupid plan, right?

It was an absolutely stupid, stupid scene that followed a 12 year old's understanding of actions and consequences.

If it's that major an inconvenience then just download it while you're asleep or something my guy, jesus.

You're making this sound like it's very difficult, or something needs to be done by someone else to make it easier, when all that needs to happen is for you to figure out how you're gonna "schedule around" a 10gb download.

I probably download more than 10gb of random **** in an average day; it's not something that needs planning to do, trust me.

Doesn't work for me. The unit card replacer and mod manager are both pointed to the correct Red Dragon root folder (the one with WarGame3.exe), but when launching through the mod manager and selecting "unoffical patch", once in game, nothing is changed.

I verify this through the in-game armory and looking at units; there are no additional units and no changes (e.g. PT-85 still has 8/rpm and costs 40 points).

Also, although it seems to install fine and not throw any errors, when using the unit card replacer's uninstall function, it throws the fatal error "The uninstaller was unable to find the content file "pc\texture\assets\2d\interface\common\unitsicons\otan\ah_1_cobra.tgv""

heavy bolter looks great, I like the more realistic proportions/size than a lot of interpretations seem to go far (making the weapon seem questionably man-portable, when it looks to be the size of a small anti-tank gun)

The files are clean, anti-virus software is dumb. You'll get the same warnings from everywhere you try to download these patches (well, 1.0-1.1 at least; 1.1-1.2 didn't throw any warnings my way). Just installed them both, works fine.

Unfortunately this is one of the biggest problems with running C&C games in the 2020s: with no ability to zoom in/out (aside from the C&C1;/RA remaster), playing on high resolutions is an eyesore. I only play on 1080p and it's still pretty much impossible to see anything with detail, I can't imagine how indecipherable it is on 4k. Only solution I've found is to play on 1280x720 in-game res, but unfortunately that makes everything very blurry which has the same negative effect (impossible to see details).

Hopefully we'll get a Tiberian Sun remaster at some point and the Petroglyph guys give it the same zoom in/out features as the C&C1;/RA remaster.

edit: anyone know why the semicolons (;) are placed behind "C&C1;" automatically? I didn't put them there and every time I use the edit feature to delete them, they show up again. Very weird.

I really like the new unit designs, map details, and what little I've been able to get into the story... but this mod is way too hard for me to enjoy. Vanilla C&C campaigns are generally pretty relaxed by RTS standards, and you can play somewhat slowly and tactically... but with this mod I feel like I need to be some high APM Starcraft esports pro to even have a chance in the normal campaign; the enemy waves are absolutely constant and every mission just becomes an economy battle of trying to out-produce and out-swarm the AI with massive doom stacks, constantly saving and loading after almost every engagement to save every possible unit so you even have a slight chance.

Way too stressful for me and I never feel like I have a moment to breath and actually appreciate the atmosphere and other more subtle qualities of the mod, unfortunately. Wish there was a version more conducive to Tiberian Sun's vanilla difficulty.

Really enjoying the mod, particularly the naval elements for NOD/GDI. Any way to turn off the Christmas trees though? Half the trees seem to be decorated and it's kinda distracting from the atmosphere, to me.

Fun fact, this gun's 75x350R ammunition is also used in the 75mm M2/M3 gun used on the Sherman, Lee/Grant, etc. Kinda weird thinking about how the Sherman's gun was essentially built upon a design from the 1800s...

What is the DLC compatibility like for this mod? Do Outlaw Sectors and Minor Factions work/spawn correctly, and if so are they completely vanilla or done differently (e.g. balance wise or to fit with Halo lore)? Should they even be switched on at all?

Genuinely fantastic mod btw, might be the best I've played, and there's a lot of great SoaSE mods. Please never add the Poseidon or Vindication, they are an abomination against god, thanks!

Tracers typically aren't very visible when they're coming at you, as the tracer element is on the rear of the projectile. You'd be unlikely to see (or hear, given the supersonic rounds) anything before you were dead.
