Unfortunately, the oil icon will not be changed. There WAS supposed to be oil in Machine for Pigs, revealed from the game's original design document.

To the comments that say that the icons were too unfitting for a game, this is my version of the Machine for Pigs Design Document inventory, and the oil icon is NOT a battery power. It IS oil.
