Thanks for the compliment, AD certainly did have a great team of level designers. If you are wanting more AD content, there are tons of extra stuff released over at Quaddicted. Link+filter = Quaddicted.com

AD 1.81 was not really designed for the KexEngine (Enhanced). Even though some maps will work, its not 100% guaranteed that everything will be fine. I would recommend using either Quakespasm or the VulKan engines.

To load another map in AD press the JUMP key. The attack/shoot key is used to cycle through additional intermission camera's.
Welcome to the world of Quake custom content. I highly recommend to try the Quake discord channel or google "how to install Arcane Dimensions" if you want a video step by step guide. I can understand the Quake mod install process can be confusing at first because its a manual install process, but some clients do support mod options on the starting menu.
If AD v1.8+ is loaded correctly the main menu graphics are replaced with something new/different. Just start a new game from the main menu.
Unfortunatey its impossible for AD to be part of Quake Remastered because of copyright (lots of assets from other old games) issues. Luckily there are plenty of alternative clients available that will work with any custom community content.
The extra (chaos mode) part in the Start map which leads down to the original Quake HUB layout is only present in V1.8+. Please make sure you are running the latest version, because there are lots of different versions of the mod available to download.
AD changes the loading screen progression, before you just pressed fire to load the map, AD requires you press jump (space bar) to continue instead.
Sorry, I have no plans for anymore AD versions. Glad to hear you are enjoying AD! Please remember to check out all the extra AD community content at Quaddicted - Quaddicted.com
The MAP files were released, here = Moddb.com
The QC source files are in the pak files included in the main download for AD. If you want the history on all the source files, they are freely available on github - Github.com
Sorry, I have no plans to do anymore AD versions.
The default HUD is 4 (doom style) which can appear different depending on what client is used, some clients will reduce the space in the middle while others are fine. My personal favourite is HUD layout 5 with all HUD elements locked to sides of the screen instead. The HUD layout can be changed either by editing the CONFIG.RC file (just need text editor like notepad) or using the key binding H to cycle through the different HUD versions available.
There is an article on this site showing all the different HUD changes - Moddb.com
AD was never designed to work with Quake Touch (Mobile version). If maps are not loading its likely the client (Touch) does not have enough memory resources available. I highly recommend to use AD with PC clients only.
I am sorry to say the days of QSS are over, any changes to the engine are hardly ever tested and its almost impossible to get a simple stable build anymore. I would highly recommend to use vkQuake or Ironwail.
Have you tried running AD with another Quake client? Like QuakeSpasm, vkQuake or Ironwail? This issue maybe something to do with the version of QSS you have downloaded.
Yes, there has been a couple of crashes reported for leptis magna in v1.8.1 due to memory/entity issues. Unfortunately there are no fixes available at the moment, besides trying a different quake client.
The Quake remastered is not really a "Quake" engine, its an engine which emulates Quake and that is why it can have 300 fps. In the original Quake engine the fps is linked to physics and if you change fps to higher values, moving objects (eg platforms) start to break with the player falling through them or suddenly being crushed.
The original Quakespasm source port is fixed at 72, but Quakespasm-spiked can have higher fps because it was decoupled from physics. There are other engines like vkQuake and Ironwail which are currently popular with the community if you want to give them a try instead though I don't know if they can support higher fps without stuff breaking.
Arcane Dimensions mostly works with the New Kex Engine port of Quake (on steam). I tested most of the original maps and the latest version (Kex Engine) does allow "Tears of the False God" (though it does have skybox problems) to load correctly. Evil skill mode does not work though, but the majority of AD features do work fine, maybe its worth doing a new patch to iron out all the visual/code bugs.
Monsters in AD do work differently from vanilla Quake for nightmare/evil skill levels. The monsters no longer get locked in place (turret mode) and react less to pain animation code requests. Several monsters do more attack/damage (grunts/enforcers fire extra rounds, shamblers do more lightning damage frames and shalraths have faster vore balls) but these changes are legacy vanilla code.
The real big difference for AD skill levels is monster projectile speeds because the code scales the speed of projectiles up or down depending on the current skill level. You can change this with the console "skill" command because the progs code is dynamic and will update all monsters without having to restart the map.
Sorry, I have no plans to add anymore HD/Kex models.
You can change the default custom hud in AD using the quake.rc file. Check out Moddb.com as it shows you all the extra options and different hud's you can choose from.
Thanks for the feedback, you made my day, thank you. :)
This article was originally on my website and is now here with the rest of the AD content.
Thanks, glad you appreciate it :)
Congrats on the 10/10 secrets! :)
You can use the +/- keys to extend the HUD up/down to reveal the gun underneath.
Thank you very much for the kind words about the mod. :)
I would highly recommend you try out more Quake mod/maps, go over to Quaddicted.com and download the rest of the community's work. There are some really amazing stuff to explore and there is constantly new stuff being released!
Triptohell.info Is the primary source for this Quake client, all updates are posted there.
Unfortunately Quake mod assets cannot be mixed around because all the animations and skins are in one file and every AD monster has been changed in some way compared to remastered Quake. Good luck with AD and I hope you enjoy your travels exploring other dimensions!
Arcane Dimensions is not compatible with the assets from the Quake remastered engine, everything you need to run AD is within its OWN pak files. If you want a different client there is vkquake, QSS and good old classic Quakespasm!
