Wow. There is a six man team, and this has been long project i get it, but that doesn't mean that they have been going around the clock like madmen?

Thats massive workload but don't u think thats a bit overstatement?

Congrats to the winners!!! Grats to JCMP for MOTY. In my books Underhell was moty, but this is how it goes. I REALLY like the idea of seperating SP and MP mods, as it has been back in the days before? right?

Too many categories will result in a mess though but my toughts are that we cant get the best out of it if SP and MP mods are combined.

This is my 7nth year on moddb, and frankly this will be the ONLY mod i'll vote on this year. There are some good ones out there yeah, but underhell exceeded my expectations trough the roof.

If you decide to go retail or something happening along the way count me in! (=

Thanks to you MXTHE and your glorius team, your the people who keep the mod community flowing!!!

Best of luck in MOTY 2013!

Had the same problem. Played lastnight and loaded up my save as im on the labs. No problem whatsoever, but now when i starteed it first i got the error then changed to steampipe and then the game crashed in first minute everytime i tried to run. Im trying to do that fix now. WTF? last night it worked just fine like 4h whitout single problem. Even alt-tabbing worked

Maybe little too late for that kind of scripiting... okay idea, but so hard to execute it to ingame, whitout serious thinking put behind.

Not many games which good inventory/craft system anyways that i remember. Stalkers ammunition management was awesome though.

Oh... have been following the news feed, and didnt even remember that.

But I remember that SMOD was pretty clumsy to code on?

Anyway, Sotelo must be a genious.

Yeah, i'm not that nitpicky, i just express that there is a room of improvement at least for my taste :P And i won't judge anything before the whole thing is out so, i'll surely drop my review when its out.

I'm still amazed about your or your writer skills though. Because i can imagine that writing dynamic music on smod/ source engine aint THAT easy!

SeBu - - 185 comments @ Welcome to the A.R.C.

I understand what you mean, but thats not the case. Music can always be altered and mastered to a point where it doesnt interfere anything too much. My opinion is that if it has good athomspheric (it has but could use more) sound, it only gives you more "vibe" in addition to dialog and sound effects.

Its only matter of the composers skill to adapt to the gameplay.

FE. take the DE:HR i think it had an awesome OST and soundtrack whit dynamic music. But it had powerful sweepy pads whit subby arps. It is completely different game, but it had low sweepy athmospheric pads whit possible choir, and filtered kicks etc. and it didnt eliminate any dialog when sneaking and exploring. Even though it didn't have that much but it had definately some.

He is a pro and hes paid to do it fulltime so i get the difference, so dont take that example too seriosly, i just try to show u my point. That any soundtrack can have wide elements whitout touching any core gameplay stuff sound design vise.

Your comporser has gone to very dull/hollow content on his music. I completely read that choice though, because when you get the dynamic music in the play some sort of layering is needed. But still i think that these track should use some MORE layering and maybe some sweet dark ambient pads or something. And if you have that much space on track anyway you should at least use some drum tracks. Im sure he uses most of his work offc, but i see no reason why not to use percussions/drums in this specific track also.

Even though it has good subs and sneaky tabs i just feel like it could use some more stuff.

Athmosperic music. It doesnt have to be dynamic, but deep hollow subby music always tunes more darker athmosphere.

Haha not sure if troll but for example in order to play this game competitively it just simply CANNOT HAPPEN IN 30FPS. It is too low, and doesnt allow such accurate aiming that we saw whit gold source engine. Ask former ns "pros" and they would ******* laugh if they had to play whit 30fps.

SeBu - - 185 comments @ Natural Selection 2 Release Date

I would say too, that it isnt ready still. The performance is on the right track but not near on release ready state. I have bad system as i play on laptop and i need to play on 640p whit everything off to get the 40fps<, but still on latelate game for example other team trapped in their base when the sprites and effects go wild i get nasty fps drop that lowers gameplay experience drasticly.

As ns1 plyer since ver 2, i would love good performance in order to pull every skillmove and aiming that this game requires to play good.

I wont go on balance because i have just 30hrs of beta played, but performance is awful on lowmid tier pc:s.

I still hope that you will continue to improve the engine whit the current workflow AFTER the release!

HOPE TO SEE YOU AT LAUNCH!

[Edit]
I could be completely wrong and offtrack, its not just the designing it propably has more factors than just that, but i dont think that the tricky writing and overall working whit ut3 engine stops you. When considering what you have already done i dont think that you stopped (not completely) for some techical limitations or lack of art direction but the fundamentals.

I get exactly what you mean. As you are the lead game designer? Especially game format like this which is 2 unique sides that have almost nothing in common. Classes are divided for each side so its the only factor that connects those sides. Game complex like this can be so hard to make playable. Not even speaking of "fully" balancing the game but just playable is very hard process. Whit small designing team i can imagine that its PAIN IN THE *** trying to fit all the pieces together.

Take for example Unknown Worlds who are about to release NS 2. They at least have studio, which allows them interact whit each other constantly. And the lead designer Charlie Cleveland already wrote the original NS, which is the backbone of its sequel. So they had something to start whit. I can imagine that starting whit clean sheet and trying to force it to its final form doesn't just feel that right.

I could be wrong that your "kinda" stuck on the game designing, but considering that how hard it can be especially whit the remote management in play I completely understand why the production isnt flowing so good.

Sad sad news : ( it would be really sad to scrap the whole project, but we will support you what ever you decide!

It doesn't really even affect much in my system. If im having especially medium to low doesnt change anything. I have disabled all the effects and play on low resolution still i struggle.

And as i mentioned the gamebraker for me is the constant freezing ;D

And don't get me wrong i'm no hater and i simply love UWE<33 mainly for all the moments that ns 1 gave to us. But i'm also very worried. As you said above everyone who would hop in to the game would not be so kind and understanding. And as a small (about.) 6person studio they simply lack the resoures if the launch would bring a wawe of comlaining and whining (offc it will but we'r talking diffrent scale here).

I offcourse hope, they somehow manage to pull it off, but i also hope from the bottom of my heart i certainly hope that they would not make the same mistakes that so many gamestudios have already done and let it to the public too early.

Hmm? Maybe its playable to you who have super-highend PC. I do not.

When sh*t starts happening (multiple lerk clouds, particles, sounds, and all that heavy jazz) my fps drops somewhat below playable rate.

And what worries me, they dont do much (as summer release would need) progress on the performance side. I'm not worried about balance yet as the whole tech three has not even been implemented, but i'm certainly worried that what it would take to put this engine playable to relatively fast computers. If there is just this wizard Max working PRETTY much his own to improve the engine its not going to be enough for the summer. Btw. as i stated my, and the feedback that i heared on the pub servers also said that their performance had gone down since the 211 hit the steam.

I have also done my research as i have constant freezing in my client posted them on the forums, but nobody seems to care. I completely understand that but i bet i'm not the only one whos having problems.

So, overall summer release would be bad
REEALLLY bad.

Tested it out. Last buil i played was 209.

The performance has gone down. The constant freezing is not gone. Balance vise the game is still same.

And you expect summer release? I'm sorry if im doubtfull, but the game isn't even nearly in state to have a summer release.

I'm very worried if theyr gonna launch ns2 whit its pants down.

I do not see the point to whine at this point.

It obviously imbalanced now, but everything ain't implemented yet FE. HA

So when the game is in its final formation they can start hardcore balancing.

If you do not like the current gameplay/balance just leave it alone.

Performance is prior 1 as we know it. (Thats where the testing part kicks in)
