Really interesting concepts, I believe I have found myself playing games with something similar to what you consider "willpower", every Total War I played had something like that. However, for a survival game is harder to apply this concept since it can be a realy unpleasant necesity for the player if not implemented correctly.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to see what becomes of that game.
