Rikersbeard @ Strider Mountain

Just finished replaying this awesome mod and was it like the first time I played. Well it didn’t stutter, it was a lower spec PC back then! Gameplay was just as good as before but so much easier than I remember. Playing “Episode 3” yes the first version cured my poor marksmanship issues!
Strider Mountain is really a stand out achievement among the other epic mods out there, although trying to jump the jeep with two wheels in the bonus maps in a laugh!
And now there’s a fix! Grrrrrrrrrr!
Killing combine is so much fun… Than you all involved in this classic.

This looks promising. Interesting trek through some detailed tunnels, well done little traps and pitfals and resonably excelent lighting, if a littl too dark in places.Only issue was getting past the zombie door-shutter; had to noclip!
Looks good, plays well and i think it can only get better. Nice job:D

ps. I never found any bugs!

I don't know if I have commented before, but this mod was on first play brilliant. It was 'Episode 3' back then, cue the moans!
On the second and third play throughs it was nothing new, just the same boring old brilliance as before!:D
I found this the most in-depth mod since G-string and Strider Mountain, which i'm about to replay after a very long break, and even compares well against the strangely wonderful 'Fast Detect'.
Thanks for your unique mods Half Life Lives well!

Glad I got to play this after it was fixed. Great mod really detailed and creative work but boy is it insanely tough. I know you meant this to be challenging but seriously if I had not choose god mode after so many red screens I would have given up finishing!
The mapping is excellent and the climbing sections are really fun but the combat for me was way too hard! I mean three rocket-firing APC's and scant cover, then a gunship! And why do I have to fight the entire Combine inventory of soldiers each time?
okay I am a wimp and anyone who can finish this head on is, in my opinion a FPS god!

Just replayed this on a widescreen, previous ancient 4:3 monitor, though of high spec finally died and I have to say it still ranks as one of the more impressive HL2 mods. It still leaves me feeling I want more; to see how the story continues especially as I have a gun at the end!
Thank you for the patch.
So many broken mods out there!

Looking great, but four, or is it five snipers? One is bad enough for me!

I downloaded "Der Schwarze Nebel 1.82 (MEGA). EN ver. MEGA (8,07 GB)".

path 1 (4 GB)
- Mega.nz
path 2 (4 GB)
- Mega.nz
path 3 (80 MB)
- Mega.nz

[Winzip does show them as corrupt files even thought there are not!]
Download 7-zip if you do not have it.

Highlighted them in “7-zip” and then selected EXTRACT and they were joined into one folder. From there you find the “DSN1” folder and open that to find the “Launcher_DSN” application, double click and away you go! Be aware of long download times of the mods various levels.

My version as bright white parts on the robo-welder (train station) and the Incinerator’s coat in the plaza but other than that the mod is looking very impressive, a grittier more disturbingly real dystopian future!
I had a major frame rate issue with the first combat level after meeting the Vort. The combine helicopter was too much for my PC I think! “Cinematic mod 4.0” is my PC’s limit by the way.

Gloriously over detailed, dark and foreboding and a little messy – I like it!
As for canon, those people should just sit on one! (polite terminology). Mods are mods, if you like canon, play HL2 until your eyes bleed!
Great mod please keep up the good work…

PS. The extras are an added bonus, thanks again. And as for the smut, it’s another layer of disturbing realism; this is not a Disney cartoon!

Loved the first two parts but for some reason part three is giving me so much grief, for Bee two! The first time i played i found a gun but the several other times i failed to find it and even got stuck in the library, locked in!Is that a bug? I had the gun when that happened.
If I can somehow avoid being beaten to death or monsterised I will write a review.
Graphics and sound are great by the way and that facility is pretty creepy and so many rooms and, well weirdness!

This mod is small, but the challenge is large and the action intense. But there is respite when it is time to test the brian and also your skill with the grav gun! A gem.

Finally weeks and fourteen hours of gameplay later I've finished this awesome mod!
Thank you Leon for such a wonderful gift to us HL2 players.
Do I need HL3 now, I think not. But don't tell Valve, I still have my fingers crossed...

I'm halfway through this mod and finding it fun and challenging to play. People moan about the cut scenes but I think they suit the style of this mod, giving it a more handmade feel and I quickly got used to seeing them. The adult manga strips were a little disconcerting at times, when one is weapon less and fleeing from zombines, etc, but then this is no vanilla mod! Great sound fx and soundtrack by the way!
Seeing stuff from familiar but forgotten name mods is great and who doesn’t like a gun twirl?
Love the museum and the very high stellar cartography platform before the verticopter pick up.
The help crosses I like and needed, but it makes me lazy:D
I hope Alyx cheers up a little by the end…

If you had known some HL-otakus would be so incensed by your cut scenes Leon you should have given Gordon his ponytail back. (from Black Mesa Source)!

Great mod. Visually atmospheric.
That building to your left as you exit on the handrail car stunning! Loved the robot helper and his witty little assistant.
Building the railcar was fiddly but fun and the puzzles not too challenging except for the pipes. I seemed to solve that by some weird logic!
It's disappointingly short, which means it was enjoyable!
The only issue for me was the twin railcar puzzle where you had to collect batteries for a big, seriously big key! I could not get across more than once! Had to 'noclip' after too much swearing!

I discovered this map by accident. Visually stunning and quite creepy in the depths. But zombines when weapon less! That is so cruel! Constantly spawning enemies is a bother but it does add a hint of pant-wetting pace to keep you moving.
Mars outside texture was really good and overall this is a little gem.
I got my *** to Mars and phoned home!

Thanks for adding the new enemy quantity option, should help those slow, lumbering players from the single-button joystick era reach the end!:)
Although I did derive so much pleasure from the combine slaughter-fest that was Strider Mountain, but boy was that a tough slog!
Some of us also like to admire the scenery while we fight to survive, maybe even take a few snapshots for the family album!

I do like the Cypress 9mm. Nice simple elegant design at its best.
For the pistol; how about something akin to the “Sandman” gun used in “Logan’s Run”. I like the simple look and an extra large muzzle flash might look good in game.
Just a thought.

I read on your Facepunch thread that you’re making the poison headcrab a major danger to the player’s health. I already despise those little monsters and now I will have to fear them! That is cruel, but clever. :)

I love to see a winter styled mod, especially with snow and looking as good as this!
If the ambient sound is as good as these visuals, it will be a real winner.
Keep up the good work!
