It is true that western zionist money goes into supporting several rebel groups, aiming to establish a secular democracy in Syria. But now it seems like there's a shift from fighting Assad to fighting ISIS (Islamic state of Iraq and Syria). USA only sends weapons to those now that fights ISIS, and the many rebel groups have even been making peace treaties with Assad so they can fight ISIS instead.
Israel knows that if the Arab dictatorships surrounding it fall to factions like ISIS, they are doomed.
