Formerly working as architects and 3D artists Felix and I founded Golden Tricycle in October 2011. We are working on CLARK, our first game, for nearly two years now. I am mainly developing the script framework using C# and the Unity game engine. Besides that I do level design and manage the overall production process. You can read my comments on our development blog (goldentricycle.wordpress.com) by following Code Monkey.

You can buy CLARK on the OUYA already. Howebver, as we have a limited exclusive deal with the OUYA guys for one month, the PC & MacOS demos will be free to download around October 10th. Thx for the patience.

We would very much like to do a Linux port. However this would force us to upgrade to Unity 4. As the new version has a new animation system we might mess up our existing components. So, never change a running horse... But if we see a chance we will port the game to as many platforms as possible.

Thx. To answer your question: We use the Unity engine with the cheapest mobile unlit shaders only. There is no cell shading at all. However the textures are somehow painted using our home-made filter scripts (and love). We generate the outlines by adding real 3D polygon geometry as this method is more precise then outline shaders. Extensive use of lightmaps allows us to add the colorful gradients. Felix, our lead 3D-designer, is going to upload a tutorial video detailing our worklow soon.

Thx. Yeah, a strange name it is: We named it after the first german company producing forklifts, CLARK. Our main character is a kind of robotic forklift with a love for order and boxes.

No cell shading involved here. For performance reasons we are using just the cheapest Unity mobile unlit shaders. Outlines are real polygon geometry, textures are somehow painted and colors are added by extensive use of lightmaps.
