Alright, i must admit it. Maybe i was wrong back when i said the whole modding scene would be burried like a body, when the Steampipe update hit.
Surprisingly, that hasn't happened, and i have recently played two newly released mods. One even for the older Source 2007 base.

It seems that those forsaken are not people making mods, but those who do more simple things, such as reskins, and models for the exsisting games.
I still cannot see how some people actually like this horrible idea of that EVERYTHING must be inside a VPK to even be loaded by the game.
I had to make a special setup for Source SDK (just update it already, goddamn it Valve) to even be able to compile models, and then view them in the Model viewer.

Yet some people making these reskins like VPK. Strange, i wonder what i'm missing. I suppose there is a way to test your models ingame without packing them up.
But atleast, the community is not dead yet. Mods are still being made, and released. So that is a good sign.

In other news, Valve has begun announcing tons of different SteamOS (Linux based) 'machines' i got no idea at the given time, what these may be. I suspect they will be something in the lines of the Steam Box.
I don't feel alot like i care, I just spent 560€ on upgrading my PC. (My old CPU got his ass handed to him, Yarhar! ) And i really don't wanna go out and spent a load of dosh on a piece of technology that i can put in my living room, so i can sit in my couch and play.

Personally, my biggest worry is that Gabe would make Steam Linux only... I felt like punshing myself for just thinking that, but seriously, that would of been the biggest ass move ever. So, lets hope SteamOS will satisfy him and his new Linux fetish (I have nothing against Linux, it sounds to be an ingenious OS.)

And there another Blog of hidious time wasting goes.

Now lets talk. Valve decided it would be a smart idea to yet again, update good old Source classics.
And i am asking; Just why? Better load times? Easier mod management? Source has been one of the EASIEST games ever to mod, uninstall mods for... And i have never experienced slow loading times. Not for SP, nor for MP.
So this update is pointless, except if your PC is 10 years old (probably cant run these games anyways) you might enjoy this update.

However, why would i suddenly get angry about this update. Faster load times, easier mod management etc sounds great, it does. If just half of it was true.
It will be easier for the User to install mods, but a nightmare for people to make. And we're talking simple things here such as reskins... sound packs, models, maps. We now have to pack these in VPK files, which i honestly never ever figured out how works, i mostly tried to avoid them because they were not anything of my interest.

And now to my real reason for hating this; Mods for Source... At the moment this is not such a great problem, very few mods use CSS as a base, but for the Multiplayer mods its a whole different story.
Supposedly every MP mod for Source uses Hl2Dm as it's base, but now that the old Hl2Dm is gone a tone of Source MP mods have been rendered useless. Valves thought on this? "It is the modders responsibility, to make sure everything works and is up to date." Yes it might be, but do you think this will bring people back from the death to fix their mods? No. Its not.
People who made great mods 5-8 years ago don't care for Source now, and will most likely never touch upon it again.
Right now one of the Single player mods however trapped in this is Smod. Smod has the ability to mount alot of different games' content, like CSS. And most Smod mini mods use CSS content, so yeah thats gone now.
There was luckly posted some tips and tricks on how to future-proof Smod on Bsnooch.com by OneManShow himself. (Thanks man, you saved alot of people)

For now, this update has not broken much more. But is a show of what power Valve has and how little they care for their modding community. The people who helped them to the top where they are today.
It however breaks my heart to say, that similar updates will most likely be coming out for Hl2, Ep1, and Ep2. It will be pointless for everyone, except Valve. When that happens, say goodbye to every mod ever, cause they will become incompatible.
Maybe newer bigger mods will prepare for this, but all the good old classics will be dead and gone. I also have the sad feeling, that Valve will eventually "call" the Source Base 2006-07 obsolete and remove it.
Once that happens, its even over for Smod. And i got a feeling Valve is heading that direction.

That concludes this blog, i hope more people agree, and dont mindlessly support Valve. I've lost my motivation for working with Source... For now that is.

Hey guys! It has now been.... little over a year since i last made a Blog. I obviously havn't felt like it, so why not do it now when i have something interesting to write up about.

Basically my life is going very well, about 2-3 months ago i started in college and that is interesting. tho i miss my old school, and my friends and so with teachers. But life goes on...

Basically a few weeks back (more like a month now) I got 3Ds Max 2012 in hopes of learning to do alot of things. Mainly i got it to make weapon swaps for viewmodels/worldmodels, 3Dscopes for SMOD weapons and a bunch of other things..
It soon turned out that this program is a master troll, even after using it for about 1 month, i still havn't quite learned it yet.
But with everyday passing i find new features that resolves the problems i have had the day before, or a few days ago.

I learned alot in the past month and i am very happy with it, feels like back when i learned how to make maps... Each model after the other is produced and i just cant stop lol.
My newest creation is some Half-life 2 Alpha/2002 based weapons, these are some of the most complicated i have yet made in 3Ds max, and it hasn't been easy! Atleast i am not the one to give up easy, and usually when i press on i find a solution.

Despite that, modelling is fun :)

I hope you've all enjoyed this little blog. Take care.

Yep its true, its my Birthday soon! Finally, time to get older. Well i am looking forward to it! Last time i had a Birthday was last year (Duh! of course)
Anyways, i got alot of stuff in sight for this year! Hope to get most of it, but as allways expect the complete opposite xD

Oh well, i got this airsoft gun in the scope:

A Tokyo Marui Five-seven Gas blowback. Yeah, i've allways wanted this. Hopefully it'll be mine in a few days :D
Also! i preordered Red Orchestra 2: Heroes Of Stalingrad. :) Cant wait for that game, it'll come out 9 days after my Birthday. My birthday is at 21th of august.

As the subject says, im now a dad.... Or not like that, we just got a puppy here the other day :)
And mostly im taking care of it, since no one else wants to. Oh well, he's cute. And nice, looks like a German Shepard, but isn't.
Otherwise, i've had some time to play a few games. Mostly i play gmod, and i decided to play through Hl1;source. Allmost done with it, so thats good. Other then that, i stopped working on Smod Tactical Delta 6. Kinda gave up as other games caught my attention.
Oh yeah! and staind is releasing a new album at September the 13th 2011. Looking forward to that.

-Josh

yeah, basically i were away for 3 days. Then when i get home, im told that we're going away (once again) Thursday, this time not 3 but around 4 days. (Thursday to monday)
So yeah im not gonna be here that much this week, atleast i got tuesday and wednesday off. Lots of time at home i guess. Oh well, lets get to the interesting things; around 3 weeks ago i downloaded Smod Tactical Delta 6. I had been waiting so much for that mod, sadly it died and someone leaked it (Dont know who) But now i got it, and downloaded rawly it's terrible... Some guy on YT even complained about the AI being sh*t. (it didnt change at all since Delta 5 LOL) But anyways, in my bordom i've been playing it quite alot, and here 2 weeks ago i started fixing up all the bugged things. Improved the AI (using console commands) Fixed weapons, maps, scripts and much much MUCH more. I must say, im getting proud of my work lol. It's really fun to play around with.
Most recently i threw Cs_cabaret into Delta 6. Rawly from 556 so there was alot to fix, but it was f*ck*d up in 556 aswell xD
I made alittle video of it too;

On other news, i've started to play OccupationCS Source again, just after the newest update which was brilliant. Oh and, if you are into realistic shooters and stuff like that. Try out OccupationCS YOU wont be dissapointed.

Anyways that was all for now, Josh out.

-Josh

Oh god, just bought this game after trying it out at a Game Café. It was so sweet that i just needed it lol. Well i was soon to be dissapointed, the game wouldn't run on my system. No matter what i did, in the end i gave up. And decided to ask my friend if i could try it on his PC, which i was allowed to.
My friend's PC specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz
6.0 GB RAM
GeForce GTX 470
Windows 7

Now don't look at meif i suck at finding PC Specs, im just not used to Windows 7 |:

Anyways the game should be able to run great here, yet it lags if the graphics are set to the highest, which sucks....

If you look away from the horrible way the game runs, i'd say it's really good actually. Very fun and interresting :D
And pretty long for the kinda games we get today. Well yeah, i like the weapons concepts too. Really nice.... But please i want a flamethrower and a plasma rifle... and a nailg- NO WAIT! Harpoon gun >:)

That'd would be sweet. anyways my rating of the actually gameplay is probally 9/10
Full game rating 7/10, but thats only because it sucks at PCs D:

Here a few months ago i discovered this mod for Minecraft that adds guns to the game. The creator of this amazing mod, is called SDK (ScottyDoesKnow) The mod can be found here along with the rest of his mods. (Grappling hook, and some useful Utility)

Basically what the mod does is that it adds guns to Minecraft. Craft able ammunition, Craft able weapons, and so on. It adds snipers, assault rifles, handguns, rocket launchers, shotguns, flamethrowers, and last but not least, our beloved minigun :)

I really recommend this mod if you want to try something new and different!
I enjoy this mod as well, it's great, and the author should be greatly credited for his work.

If you are interested in trying out the mod, then there is a thread on the Minecraft-forums here

Anyways, if anyone cares to know how i've been then... Meh, i've been terrible xD
I've also gotten into a friendship with one of my old favorite leak map fixers, which would be H.Grunt.
thats about it, rock on out there boys.

If you havn't allready checked the pictures, i suppose you do it. And after that, if you have no idea what a "killdozer" is i suppose you watch this video before you read on :)

Anyways, i thougth that the killdozer was pretty awesome. So i started working on my own killdozer. tho mine is named "Tankdozer" and is more like a rebel construction.
I havn't thougth alot about how it would work and stuff, and it doesn't look ANYTHING like a bulldozer with armor on lol. In my own opinion it looks more like a german strom tiger. Hmmm i have been thinking of recreating it as a bulldozer. But nah, i'll keep it this way.

Tankdozer specs:
Chassis: *Unknown*
Weight: 75 Tons
Crew: 3 members, 1 Pilot, and 2 gunners. The 4th person seen in the picture is just some girl they picked up.
Armor: 17Cm composite - inner steelplate 5cm, concrete 5 cm, and outer steelplate is 7 cm. (not as thick as the killdozers.)
Armament: 1 x Barret M82 .50 (Side)
1 x M14 with Acog (Front)
1 x 7,62 M60 (Rear)
Features: Radio system for communication

Thats about it, leave comments if you have any improvement ideas :)

SDK Updating

JoshZemlinsky Blog

Yeah, i am really starting to get tired of Source SDK. It's really hard to make it work now adays.
I was gonna start on my new mod today, but after a whole day trying just to get hammer working. The maps looked like shit, non of the code worked.
I really think Valve should start fixing some of this bugs. It's like only pros are allowed to mod for the source engine now :/
It's really stupid..

Nvm, i have given up on mapping long ago.

Hope you guys are gonna have a better day then me.
