Yes they are. Just check this video:
Very soon (meaning way less than a year), but we're targeting a step by step release adding features onto a base build which will soon be released but not yet feature everything we envisioned.
Animation department is still understaffed, slowing down the progress quite a bit. But expect some new updates in the next 1 or 2 weeks.
I'd be careful with superlatives like "the best HL2 mod". There are just too many, and a lot of them are very good and professional. It takes A LOT of work to make full conversation mods nowadays and it's hard to fulfill the high expectations people have with the first release, which will be a beta, and won't be "perfect". Just think of DoD Beta 1.0 or any other early HL1 mod, lots of flaws, took them a while to become what they are now.
Just short answers, sry:
- No public alpha, just a public beta sooner or later. Until then just the internal alpha testing
- The teams represent real squads and they're slot based, 8 slots per squad with NCO, Riflemen, Machine Gunner and some other "Classes" i don't wanna talk about now
- Snipers are partly implemented and will probably be part of the public beta
- Radioman... (not sure about the distance based voice system tho, might not be possible)
Some questions:
- Is the gameplay more like INS or like DODS?
Way less arcadish than DoD:S, and even more inclined towards realism than INS (opinion!). I'd put it somewhere between INS and OFP/ArmA.
- How much of the art is home-made?
Pretty much everything. Of course we're using some HL2 textures/models here and there (just like most Source based games), but we've a huge amount of selfmade content (more than DoD:S just to give you an idea). It's a full conversion after all.
- When is the release? (Ignore this question Wink ;\) )
Ok ;)
On one map (Eglise) they'll jump directly from a C47. But neither will there be usable artillery nor usable vehicles.
The radio stuff... well, for obvious reasons I don't want to talk about that yet. Just watch our future updates and you'll get the answer sooner or later. Let's say you're pretty good at guessing. ;)
We're not dead and yes there will be a media update soon. It's not that unusual to have less updates during the summer. ;)
There won't be a single player campaign. The word "campaign" applies to the map rotation representing important fights of the 82nd/101st in the first days after the invasion.
It doesn't require DoD:S and doesn't use any of its content. HL2 owners can play RnL. Might also run with those CSS/HL2DM packs, not sure tho.
it isn't, just an ordinary reload animation
Afaik mods now work for everyone who owns at least ONE source based game. So ya you should be able to play RnL even if DoD:Source is your only Source based game.
