Jay "Rampant Coyote" Barnson has been a gamer and game developer for a frightening number of years. He got his professional start right our of school working for SingleTrac making best-selling (and some not-so-best-selling) games for the Sony Playstation and PC, including popular titles "Twisted Metal," "Warhawk," and "Jet Moto." After years of joy and frustration in the mainstream games biz, he struck out on his own as a part-time indie to make his own games. With his latest title, Frayed Knights: The Skull of S'makh-Doan, Jay has focused on the unruly beast known as the Role-Playing Game, the rock upon which many an indie has wrecked. Embracing old-school turn-based combat with a party of adventurers in 3D first-person perspective, and a tongue planted in its cheek, Frayed Knights is both a return to old-school RPG gameplay and a quest for new areas to innovate to make the style as fresh and as fun as it was two decades ago.

Driftmoon

Game review

Driftmoon is full of charm and quality. Seven years in the making (give or take), it's full of small details and adventure-game-like puzzles mixed with good ol' fashioned RPG fun. If you don't like having 'cute' in your game, it may not appeal to you, but otherwise I'd mark this one as a 'must buy' for your collection if you are an afficianado of indie role-playing games.

March to the Moon

Game review may contain spoilers

While it may lack a little bit of "curb appeal" at first glance, this is a DANG fun little game. It's silly, doesn't take itself seriously, with way over-the-top boss monsters (Plasma Rat!), but it's still a challenge and a lot of fun to "level up" with all kinds of enhanced powers. Seriously worth giving it a try.

Caster

Game review

A solid, fun action title that makes itself distinct from most other third-person run-and-gun type games because of its emphasis on things like world deformation as an actual game mechanic. It gives of a bit of a Magic Carpet kind of vibe in this respect, but with more action and straight-up combat than Bullfrog's classic title.
