Heya, I'm preparing something special for the Steam release (which will also be available on Desura once it's out) which is taking a little bit of time. Also crunched with another huge project :) Thanks for your patience!

Good news, the Linux launch issue has been fixed.

You will have to re-install the game for this to work, just right-click "uninstall" and then just reinstall it. You won't lose your saved game progress or anything, but this will fix it so the game launches properly from the Desura client on Linux.

Thanks everybody for your patience!

Hi Everyone!

Player forums have been set up. If you get into a situation and can't find your way out, check the Help-o-Drome. You can just jump onto the forum here on Desura or check out forums.kittylambda.com, where a large number of hints are already posted.

Enjoy =)

Thank you for the suggestion! There's been a few requests for demo so it's always a possibility. It's really hard for me to make a demo because the game is very non-linear; there's not a great way to "cut off" a demo. So that's the quick reason that there is no demo at this point.

I try to be pretty responsive! I hope you're enjoying the game, the .tar.gz has been uploaded and hopefully Desura will get this parameter tweaked for me soon so the game launches properly from the client.

Thanks for buying the game :)

Sorry, my mistake. I thought I had uploaded the tar.gz, but it looks like I only uploaded the .deb. I will put the .tar.gz up there today, it will take a day or two to get approved however!

Thanks your patience and I really am sorry about this. It's really embarassing actually.

Hi Everyone.

If you're having trouble with the Linux version, then first up, sorry! I really am sorry, basically there is a tiny issue with the way the MCF was created. I'm still getting the hang of the ins and outs of Desura as a developer.

A proper fix for this needs to be done by Desura staff as I can't edit the proper parameter myself. Hopefully that will happen soon.

Good news: in the meantime you can work around it this way:

1- Navigate to the folder ~/desura/common/the-real-texas/usr/bin/

2- Launch the game "therealtexas" from there.

3- DON'T launch it from ~/desura/common/the-real-texas/ -- that's the problem, the usr/bin/ is important for the game to find it's data files.

Everything should work fine, and once this is properly fixed you should also have no problem launching the game normally and your save games/etc. will still be there as expected.

Thanks again for buying the game and enjoy!

Gah! Sorry guys. Fix coming ASAP. Thanks for letting me know, sorry I didn't see this until now!

In the meantime if you want you *should* be able to grab the standalone linux .tgz file, just extract to your home folder.

DrPaddles as the dev I will concur that it is pretty different :)

Giant bomb did a quicklook of it when it first game out:

It also was also favourably reviewed on a number of sites, for instance Destructoid gave it 8.5:

Thanks and enjoy the game! :)

Thank you =) Just drop me an email support@kittylambda.com if you haven't yet. It'll take me a few days to get keys sorted out but assuming it's allowed by Desura then yes!

I like the new logo. It reminds me greatly of those little inner-discs for adapting a 7in record to a 11in turntable. However I listen to a great deal of LPs (for instance, right now I am listening to Chilliwack on LP) so this association may not be strong for everyone.

Nice to make your acquaintance!

Here you can see Sam with his flak jacket on. Texas has a full equipment system, actually to where it borders on a "dress up" game. You can also layer things together so for instance the flak jacket can be worn underneath something else if you don't like the looks of it but want the protection.

Television, in the real world. The game is split between real and alternate worlds, with the real world (a castle in modern day England) being in a sort of magic bubble that you can't escape from until you solve the mystery of the alternate texas.

This is an underground cave, where Mathilda lives.

All NPCs in the game have schedules, including sleeping, eating, working, and sometimes getting together to hang out. It's 5am, so Matty is sleeping.

The game features a day and night cycle, and somehow I always end up taking screenshots during the "night" part of it.

In this one you can see a fairy stone, which is basically a warp point. As you uncover more fairy stones you can use them to warp from place to place, so you don't spend as much time backtracking as you otherwise would. Some are put in obvious places and some are less obvious.

It's an Army Issue Colt .45 long barrel revolver, AKA the cowboy weapon of choice. I'm not a huge gun afficianado but I can say, this one SLUGS.

NPCs have a day/night cycle, something like in Harvest Moon or Majora's Mask-- but more dynamic (they aren't on a fixed track that repeats every day, instead they have a daily schedule and the AI figures out how they should do it.)

Here you can see somebody sleeping on her flame-print bed. It's 8PM.

I hope you find the giraffe run in the den amusing.

You idiot, you didn't talk about what you EAT! That's half the battle...

Also what happened to your indie games TV show? I remember you had a cute girl with you, that everybody made creepy comments about, but maybe she was your sister? You guys could be on channel4 or whatever it's called, you could be the next bytejacker!

PEACE! =)
