Like Loot? You'll Love Dragon Age: Inquisition's Multiplayer!

poweronpub Blog

Do you like loot? Well, then you need to check out the multiplayer gameplay in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Here's why!

Team Up With Others for Some Killing Action
Sure, most people didn't expect Dragon Age: Inquisition to be about multiplayer. Seriously, why would it be in this game? This is a tactical RPG, after all! Why did BioWare bother with this? This is a single player title, right?! Well, look, I've got news for you. The multiplayer is actually pretty nice, and definitely adds to the game. If you haven't touched it, think about trying it out. Here's a bit of info.

There's Free Downloadable Content
BioWare regularly works on the multiplayer content. Free content! New levels, items, heroes, and more coming in through multiplayer, Well worth checking out. Oh, did I mention this stuff is free? Doesn't get much better than that.

No Bleed Over into Single Player
There's no connection between the single player and multiplayer modes. Nothing in multiplayer will affect your story in single player, so don't sweat it. Try it out, worry free. You can even play around with different specializations. Sure, there is narrative to be had in the co-op, but again, that doesn't go over into single player. So, you don't HAVE to do multiplayer, but there's plenty of fun and loot to be had, so you might as well give it a shot.

Will You Join Us in MultiPlayer?
Well, those are some points that I like. There are plenty of others to be had. Find them for yourself by giving Dragon Age: Inquisition's multiplayer gameplay a shot. You'll be glad you did. Will you join the rest of us? Have you already, and if so, what do you think?

The Latest Hit from Supercell is Boom Beach!

poweronpub Blog

Alright alright alright...so I know I'm totally late to the party here, but I'm just now getting to this game in my gaming lineup. For those who aren't aware, back in 2013 Supercell released Boom Beach. This followed the insane sales of Clash of Clans, which is still going strong. So strong that there are tons of gamers that are still in there playing and who must now find time to play their latest game. And play Boom Beach we shall...here's why!

Well, if you're not too familiar with it, Boom Beach has a lot of similarities to Clash of Clans, actually. Not surprising since they're made by the same people. There is a similar interface and some of the gameplay is similar. Its also free to play, as is the thing these days apparently. They make money by selling stuff like Diamonds, the currency in the game.

The Gameplay

When you start up this game you'll begin on a gorgeous looking island in a great little village. You'll have beaches and trees all around...at least until the evil BlackGuard show up. Its a small group of invaders, though, so you manage to fend them off (at least, I hope you do). They assure you they'll be back, though.

So, you go and you grow your village. You go out exploring and trying to find plenty of wood and gold, which are needed in the game to expand. You'll find other islands that the BlackGuard have managed to conquer, and hopefully you'll help save them in return from some resources.

In the game when you're launching any offensive you'll make use of some cool looking gun boats to fire on any enemies from a distance. You also have some landing crafts that will, as the name suggests, land. :) They transport your troops to the islands to fight for you. Your defense is made up of various buildings and other structures that can fire on anything coming your way. Mortars, sniper towers, boom cannons, and more will be used to defend with.

A lot of people have said that this is just a cheaper remake of Clash of Clans, and there are certainly some similarities. However, its a really fun game, and it can become more and more challenging as time goes on. If you enjoy these sorts of games I'd highly recommend trying it out (if you do check out these tips at PowerOnPub.com to help you get started in the game!). More so if you've enjoyed playing through Clash of Clans in the past.

Gamers Took Down Crota'S End Hard Mode In Less Than Half An Hour

poweronpub Blog

The top gamers in the world of Destiny sped forth to trya nd be the ones to manage to deafeat Crota's End in Hard mode. Apparently, the fire team One and Done finished the whole thing in a mere 27 minutes. That is crazy! It barely went live on the server yesterday morning. Certainly didn't take long.
Bungie stepped up to confirm that it was indeed the fire team One and Done that managed to be the very first set of gamers to finish up Crota's End on hard mode. They posted it to their Twitter. Bungie plans to make an official weekly update that lists the top 5 to do this as well.
Right before the raid was live on the servers Bungie put out a hotfix for the raid to deal with some issues that were only affecting Crota's End.
My fire team set out after Crota just last night to see what sort of tasty new exotic weapons we could get our hands on. The raid is pretty much the same as it always has been. However, that completely changes when you get to the last fight. After that point it becomes considerably more of a challenge than on normal. Crota's Shield is much stronger, as are the Hive Majors. There are also Wizards that protect Crota, and there's a gatekeeper that guards the bottom entrance area.
A member of my team managed to grab the handcannon, "Word of Crota" and snagged that tasty new shader that you get when you finish the raid itself. Pretty cool. We'll definitely be back to hunt down more legendaries and exotics.

Destiny's New Upgrade System Is Terrible

poweronpub Blog

In Destiny it used to be that you had 3 upgrade slots for your exotic/legendary gear that needed stuff like Ascendent Energy and Shards. Typically you'd end up with these in your possession by doing the daily heroic, dismantling other similarly rated gear, going on raids, and participating in the public events. End up taking down a raid boss and there was no loot for you? You'd get some ascendant mats. Because of this, inside of Destiny the idea of upgrade materials was completely disappointing for anyone doing raids. After all, who doesn't hope to find some sweet gear for themselves?

So, what was Bungie's solution to this issue? Well, they set it in place with their first expansion, The Dark Below. Basically what they did was make everyone ecstatic to find some upgrade mats, and they did this by making them so much harder to find. You see, the latest legendary raid guns and raid armor need a new currency inside of Destiny if you want to upgrade them. This currency is known as Radiant Energy and Shards, and you can only get them through a raid with just 2 chests and 3 bosses in it. If everything you find was Radiant mats, well you'd end up with around 10ish of these (more or less).

Every single armor piece and gun needs twenty-one Radiant mats in order to upgrade it. Everywhere else that you can find legendary upgrade mats outside of the raid will still be dropping the typical Ascendant Energy, but that isn't at all helpful if you want to be able to upgrade your raid gear.

This lack of upgrade mats will cause some issues in the game. For example, raid armor has stats that are completely random. For example, one piece of chest armor could give you a boost to a specific stat or some mix of the 2, and it can have anywhere between 120-160 points. If you were doing Vault of Glass you could go and upgrade your raid chest piece to boost your preferred stat without much care of replacing that chest piece in the future. This is because there were plenty of upgrade materials to go around. However, that's no longer the case, and if you choose to upgrade anything you better be prepared to stick with it for quite some time. Makes me question much of my time spent searching for legendaries and exotics for guides to post on Power On Pub. Sad.

With the raid, Vault of Glass, everyone playing would complain about never being able to get specific loot drops as a result of the RNG. In the new raid, everyone will complain about being unable to do any upgrades to their new loot because there are no upgrade materials available. Hooray...

5 Issues With Destiny's Vault of Glass As It Stands

Among the arguably worst parts of Destiny is the Raid. Sure, it can be plenty of fun and very exciting, However, it is accurate to say that Atheon can not be pushed off the edge as before, and he teleports players as should have from the get go, but there is also lots of other issues during the last battle that are around. Lets take a look at some of the current issues. Please note, I've gotten so tired of it that I took a break, but to my knowledge these haven't been fixed yet. Soon, hopefully.

Buggy Teleports
When just 2 individuals are teleported. Occasionally just 2 players will be teleported after the timestream opens. This sucks because you need 3 to really make any sort of dent here.

Buggy Portals
Occasionally when a player goes through a portal all is well and there are no issues, but occasionally... it bugs out. Nothing happens; your characters just do not go through. This really isn't just disorienting, but you must cleanse your teammates ASAP if you are the relic holder. When walking through the big luminous circle this really is not a desirable outcome, and messing about with a portal will not assist with any specific situation, that's for certain.

Buggy Shields
The minute after you exit the portal after killing the oracles you get a huge damage increase, letting you hurt Atheon. However, the shield isn't always working correctly, and either just doesn't protect the way it should or it just shuts down at random. For obvious reasons this must not occur!

Buggily Detained
You must not have a detain shield around you if you are teleported during the last boss battle. You have oracles and other opponents to confront, so there is no reason that this should occur. Since it occurs infrequently, I seriously doubt that it was the intent for this to occur at all.

Buggy Health
Putting someone up against enemies that recover health when the killing blow is landed is one sure fire method to have a player be angry enough to leave the game and never come back. This is clearly an error in the last fight of the Raid and should never occur.

Have any of you encountered any other bugs? Tell me about them in the opinions below. For the moment I'm taking a break from the Vault of Glass, myself. I have plenty to do hunting down exotic armor for Warlocks, after all. That keeps me entertained and its nice to be useful in Destiny, since when I play in the raid I never seem to be lol.
