Naval Action is all about simulation. Our game has more focused on a fun multiplayer experience. Sails of War will in many ways be easier and less complicated - less boring in places. Start the game, drop in a match, have fun.
I'll have a blog post about gameplay in the near future; keep an eye out for it.

Yes the project has a design document and is aiming to reach goals :) Some fine nuances will of course change during development.
I don't yet want to fully talk about indepth details of the design or its execution. But to sum it up: We don't want the player hung up on having to order his crew to take down the sails or to minutely calculate trajectories.
Rather players should be able to jump in and have fun for a bit. No grinding nor long unlock trees and times - just pure old video game fun.
It's a bit vague, yes. More on it in a bit. :)

Thanks! Yes, the current goal calls for exciting ship to ship battles where you have full control over your own vessel.
The camera placed behind the ship like a typical 3rd Person or vehicle game. I'll have more on it in the near future the next milestone is to get the current prototype code to alpha and have a working game. - Lukas
