Adventures In: STAR WARS CONQUEST (Mount and Blade Mod)

polloio Blog

This is the "novelization" of my playthrough of the awesome mod Star Wars Conquest for Mount & Blade, read it and if you like it let me know with comments and maybe I will write more things like this.

Prologue

Finally this day has come, I awaited the moment of my graduation at the Imperial Officer Accademy since I was a little boy on Coruscant. My family always rejected the idea of me becoming a soldier, they said it was too dangerous, they said it was too much for me....but they died and here I am now. The Senior Instructor Officer stand before me, he shakes my hand and salutes me."Commander Ushaka, from now on your soldiers are your family and the Empire your only faith. Please the Emperor and you'll become someone in the future."

A Name The Galaxy Won't Forget

My name is Ushaka, Lord General Ushaka, a title I've obtained after long years of service in the Imperial Army, first as a frontline infantry commander and then as a strategist in the Emperor Palpatine's personal retinue, a position that earned me the rule over Manaan Moon, where my base actually is. War has aways fascinated me to the point of making me want to be part of it. Honestly I do not understand why those rebels started the war, the Galactic Empire is such a mighty and great regime and I'm proud to live and serve in it as I see the Emperor Palpatine as an exemplar ruler. But those rebels do not accept his liege, forcing lots of brave men from all the galaxy to leave their homes and go dying in battle for the fake ideal of freedom winded by their chief, the traitorous ex-senator Mon Mothma. Freedom stays in power, not in their anarchist and separatist vison.

The alarm begins to ring. Alert level is set to red. We're going to battle today.Through the screen of the commander's bridge navigator apparatus I read we're over planet Bakura, one of those Rebel bases. Communication relay is activated. The face of a rebel commander appears on the screen, his voice loud and clear."Here is First Officer of the Bakura Planetary Defence, you are violating our borders. Leave this Sector or prepare to fight." I do not pay attention to what that rebel scum is saying. My mind is calm, my voice too."All artillery batteries, open fire on their shields!" The man in the screen is repeating his pathetic message while a storm of ion projectiles go cracking on their planetary shields: the Besieging of Bakura has begun.

In the following six hours, our Headhunter-class starship's batteries continued the bombardement against the defences and the anti-aircraft artillery stations of the planet, granting us a bridgehead to start the invasion of Bakura's capital city.

"One hour left to the assault. Prepare your men." I say to the two squad leaders while leaving the main bridge to take the long walk to my armory followed by three royal guards. As I cross the corridors I see crewmen running from room to room preparing everything for our imminent planetfall.Once in my personal room I get near the armory locker and put in the secret code to open it. From the shelf I pull off my modified suit of stormtrooper officer armor and my E-17d long range blaster rifle. Your soldiers will be your family, they said once to me, and now I know this for real!

30 minutes left before the assault. Entering the docking bay I see two squads of thirty man each in perfect order, the squad leaders standing in front of me saluting. "Awaiting your orders, sir!" I walk past them followed by my bodyguards as I begin my routine inspection of the soldiers. Everything is in order, theese men are well trained veterans that fought almost everywhere through the Galaxy, from the iced planet Hoth to the desertic Tatooine. Before giving the order to initiate the embarking procedures I go to the end of the bay where ten closed metal crates are. A loud ranting comes from within the boxes.

10 minutes left before the assault. The soldiers are all in their positions, the two small carriers are now ready for the take off and the pilots are executing the final controls .

5 minutes before the assault. I'm sitting on the commander's chair on the first of the two carriers. The transmitter in my hand, as I gige the order to open the communication channel with the troops. My voice is amplified so every man can hear it clearly."Once again the Emperor has requested our skills in the name of the Galactic Empire. Will we disappoint him?" The "No!" shouted as an answer to my question fills my chest with such a great pride that feels like a fierce flame is burning in it. The afterburners start roaring, the two ships hover for a moment while the giant metal plated portal of the hangar opens up and then we're in space. In almost twenty minutes we successfully landed in a wide square of the main city and the two carriers had been completely emptied and made ready to return back to the mothership. As all of the soldiers are ready I begin giving their officers the orders regarding the placing of the troops for the incoming battle. We are outnumbered by the rebel forces, but we will win at all costs.

The plan is ready, the strategy is clear. The First Squad, composed of Nova Troopers, stays under my direct command in the frontlines while the Second Squad stays at our flanks to provide support and reinforcements if needed. While the final preparations are completed I launch a brief look at the sealed metal crates. The feral sound coming from inside them gets louder and louder. A voice suddenly comes from the transmitter. "Lord General, enemy forces approaching." In my mind only a thought: today Salis D'aar will fall.

"First Squad, take cover!" I shout as the enemy laser bullets are raining on our position. From the flanks the Second Squad back us with support fire with their Heavy Repeaters. Many enemies begin to fall on the metallic floor of the square as the repeaters mow down their frontlines infantry. Seeing the enemies running back for cover I give the charge order to conquer us some more space in the chaos of the battlefield. As we rush to a more advanced position we answer back at the enemy fire while running. Once behind a small concrete wall, I grab my radiotransmitter and give a simple order. "Let them loose."

The metal crates doors open up violently as ten rancors get out and begin to charge the enemy lines. Projectiles are flying everywhere around the beasts as the rebel soldiers try to stop them, but it's too late. The rancors, fueled by the drugs and their natural rage, smash through the rebel formation tearing heads and limbs apart with unnatural strenght. Screams fill the air and all that can be seen is a red river of blood coming from where the rebels barricades stood. The battle is over in a few minutes. The rancors are sedated and took back to their metal kennels and the soldiers start walking the battlefield executing the remaining rebel troops. Meanwhile me and my bodyguards headed to the administrative palace. Once inside, after a brief struggle with the remaining guards, we manage to get in the core room.

The man that appeared in the communication before the assault is now before me. He walks to me and, leaving his pistol in my hand, claims that he's now my prisoner. I unsheat his Westar lasgun while staring him in the eyes, then I pull the trigger. The shot produced a fuzzy noise and carved a smoking hole through his forehead. We make no prisoners.
