There's no way to get rid of it, but it doesnt matter. Ares doesn't have a launcher and cannot update itself.
The campaigns don't add much to the size of it, unless you separately downloaded the cutscenes. The mod copies files from RA2YR to not conflict with mods. Of course, you could always merge the two folders if you wanted but then you'd only be able to play RedRes, and not other mods or the base game. Deleting ecacherrtheme.mix would save about 70MB.
The tank is based a chassis by TX1138 and the turret by raminator, I did the edits for the different stages.

The only other sensible one I think would be paradrop, but then it'd negate tunnel usage and be basically the Libyan drop.
Libya probably won't get a special tank drop though, they already have a lot of special stuff. Was thinking about changing the vehicle cloning a bit so instead of producing an identical copy it produces a weaker copy, or maybe a generic "duplicant tank" or something. Depends on balance though, need to look at it again.
It doesn't replace any. Just means with the HQ you get Insurgency and Invasion. Since other countries tend to get more directly damaging powers, I think it balances out. Currently the tanks spawn outside the Headquarters.
Looks like the manuals already been fixed for the next patch. Tupolev was taken away from Russia because they already have a very powerful main force, especially against vehicles, and the Tupolev just tipped them over the edge to being too annoying to deal with. The Spetsnaz give them a nice edge to an otherwise straight forward faction IMO.
Did you install the mod into folder with RA2YR?
Are you on Windows 10? Been hearing a fair few reports of the launcher not starting, think it might've been an update on that OS that's broken it.
Grand Cannons fire using the Skillshot support power. The AI detecting disguised spies would just be the way the AI works in the engine and not something I can change. The AI ignores a lot of things that effect the player unfortunately.
If I wasn't happy with the performances they wouldn't be in the mod. Don't tell me what I *need* to improve. ;)
You can just put your mission in the main Red-Resurrection folder. If you want to add the mission to the list then you need to edit SPMaps.ini inside the INI folder, else you could just name it sov01u.map for instance, and it would replace the first Soviet RA2 mission.

You can invent your own reason, it makes no difference to anything in the mod.
Again, I've played on easy and the AI does nothing. Got attacked once about time minutes in and with one single attack group. I can't fix what I can't experience myself.

1) It's cool. 2) This isn't a continuation of the old USSR. The Soviet Union was dismantled by the Allied occupation after the war and a resurgent communist party restored Russian pride and threw them out, so it's possible they'd be somewhat more compromising to reach that endeavour. Think Stalin himself sought help from the orthodox church during WW2.

The US can use mercs because paradropped troops are given a hunt command for the AI, but that's not the case for how Colonial Troops are created. It'd be likely that they'd just end up a tonne clogging their base. The Allies do already have Chronosphere triggers the same as Iron Curtain ones, would have to look into why they might not work but the AI isn't great at using it anyway.
You mean the sidebar? Tried switching renderers? Is the resolution correct (ie not bigger than your monitor supports so the sidebar is off screen somehow)?
The RA2 missions sure and a few have been updated in the next patch.
