Long story short, I tried to play minecraft; ended up playing this, now I'm pretty much happy to play this game. There is a much longer version of that story, but I thought I'd keep it brief. Thanks for stopping by, and yes... I fully support the development of other indie games and have no problem with them.

Ol.Joe @ Optimised Engine NEW VERSION!!!

depending on your computer you might even get more out of it!!! we've tested the new client on an atom based netbook with no dedicated graphics and even that little thing would run at 512, even if it was a little slower at that fog distance.

The code base for this game and indeed the very first code base for Minecraft was Open source code, thus similarity is guaranteed and textures mean nothing as they can be swapped out at a moments notice, exe has been very considerate of Notch's work and has removed features as and when Notch has asked. So, no this is not plagiarism. It is two projects which are working up from the same base. This one however remains open source and welcomes new parts to be added. It's still early days yet.

I agree with the sentiment of this post, and I hope through a continued presence, here at IndieDB and elsewhere, that Manic Digger can acquire the much needed indie developer support so that the game can finally get away from it 'roots'

Honest answer... I don't know, but put it this way... you're welcome to learn how to code in c# and add your own updates!!! heck, if there are any features you want to see list them, then perhaps those that can code c# will do you a favour and code it in! the beauty of open source :-)

Infiniminer stole lego's from my childhood!! ZOMG!
I'm going to leave DNA-X's comment visible, but let me say this: Imitation, best form of flattery?

pps: re; fire pimp image. After an attack on the Manic Digger wiki, the entry "fire imp" was altered maliciously to "fire pimp". I just thought I'd pay homage to that; also, I quite like the idea of the fire pimp as an enemy, he'd roam the lands saying things like 'fo sho!' and 'heeey man wassup?!' but, he's an evil being, he only survives on massive amounts of gold and will slowly head toward any blocks of gold that you have stored anywhere so that he can consume them!

Ol.Joe @ Manic Digger, A tour of the public server.

the 'tower' and structures, the hollowed out mines in the ground are all created by the users, essentially the game generated a landscape and then people went nuts.

Hey, thanks for having a go man, and thanks for the feedback. I also hope for increased game features in the near future, regarding your 'texture' issue, I myself am currently designing a 'in-between' texture pack which I think will act as a nice half way point to a full overhaul. I'm going to throw up some preview images of the textures as they are at the moment (as seen from within the game) check the 'images' page here at indieDB for them.

Once I'm happy that my textures are in fact worthy I'll add them here under the 'mods' section.

I do believe there is a free-form mode with unlimited blocks, I've not fiddled with the settings for such things personally. Check the Forums at sourceforge for better assistance with such things! :-)

without digging up a large packet of 'flame-war' or getting my bucket of 'troll-bait'...

let's just agree: Dwarf Fortress > Infiniminer > Minecraft & Manicdigger.

Minecraft is a pay to play (premium version) game.
Manic Digger Is open source, uses open source code.

Yes it does look and act a lot like MineCraft, but I assure you, as it develops it will very much be a different game. Same style, different developer, different Idea's, different game.
