I think that high audio quality delivers more to the game than high visual quality, but gameplay rules over both.
Gameplay > Audio > Storyline > Visual
For example, check out newgrounds.com/portal/view/555812. Even though it's an animation, it's a great example of audio and storyline carrying the entire thing.
