Welcome to my ModDB profile page. My name is Martin and I'm a Technical Artist (TA) from Stockholm, Sweden. I started out my career in game development as a 3D Artist in late 2010, working with art production on a wide range of different platforms (PC, Xbox 360, PS3, iOS, Android). As a Tech Artist I work in the twilight zone between Programming and Art. Responsibilities involves things like: Tools development, Improving artist workflows, Writing shaders, Rigging, Research & Development, Prototyping, Technical Writing (Documentation), Teaching artists and probably most importantly: design as well as maintain new or existing pipelines. Currently I am working at King - an Activision-Blizzard division.

So this takes place in some perfect, americanized parallel universe where the EU has become the united states of europe (involving countries that don't want to touch the EU even with a pair of tongs), and where the korean war never happend? I don't get this at all. Sure, I would like to play HoI in modern times but then I want accuracy - not some thought-up, bother-free world with gimped socialist/communist countries.

Really nice. I'm playing Synergies atm - as a fire embermage though. This mod definetly needs more overhauls like this to the original classes - especially the Outlander which few ppl like.

Sooner or later I'll learn the basics of 3ds Max and get into it's scripting language - but not for at least another year I would guess. I'm planning to learn Python scripting next. But if you need UV-tools for Max then I can strongly recommend TexTools.

Nightshade - - 86 comments @ What age did you start modding?

Let's see... The year must have been 99 because Quake 2 was the hottest game online, Counter-Strike was a brand new hit and every Quake fan was waiting for the December release of Quake 3. So I was 14 when me and my friends started working with Worldcraft (predecessor to Hammer). We mostly did level design, scenarios and combining already existing mods. It was a blast!

I'm waiting for an art update :)
Also curious about your unit/hero system, abilities and so on... There's a lot of "duelling" TBS-games out there after all so the competition is strong!

Those tiles are actually not bad - I like em a lot. He should turn down the highlights a little on those spruces though. I would turn down the highlights a little on those spruce trees though.

There's a HUE-wheel on Shift Alt +mouseclick when you have the brush tool active but it's nowhere near as good. For starters you HAVE to start with the Hue and then move the cursor into the square: you can't stick the color picker on the square and then change the Hue.
Also, this plugin creates a gradient of swatches between the FG and BG. You can have as many as possible afaik, and you can blend any colors. The swatches gets saved when you pick a new color as well.

Well if you want to create drawing brushes for leaks then you will have to make a brush from scratch - I doubt you can modify mine because they were made to be stamp brushes. But to answer your question: you can find a whole lot of brush settings under the brush -panel (windows > brush). Under "shape dynamics" you can add a lot of interesting stuff that only works with a wacom/tablet, or add an angle jitter (I have 100% angle jitters on all brushes but these leaking ones). Under "color dynamics" you can add HSV-jitters which is very useful for grunge brushes. But yea, do some experimentation with those settings under there and I'm sure you can find a lot of cool stuff. Once you are happy with a brush edit you can save these brush setting by opening the brush menu (brush tool active > right click on work area) and hit the tiny arrow in the top right and then "new brush preset".

Thanks. Yeah change can be strange. Regarding that: A former class-mate of mine (programmer) just got hired by DICE and moved to Stockholm - all in like less than 2 weeks.

Nightshade - - 86 comments @ Creating terrain textures

Seems like hard work to have the entire terrain tile-based. In your case I would've gone with splatmapping as it's a much faster method. But I guess you wouldn't get the same kind of hard edges then. Matter of taste I guess.

Love this mod but through all these years I've always felt that this game is... fading away... People forget it because yeah, so many people describe it as "foreverware". I think it's very important to announce a release date ASAP.

You should mention the Amiga in the group summary. In the 80's and early 90's, the Amiga beat the PC by shitloads with it's superior graphics AND superior sound! The first games I ever played was on an Amiga 500 (this was in 1989). I didn't own a NES myself but played Iceclimber and Mario at friends.
