i guess he means the version of the game itself - thats the latest version...since there wasnt a patch for ages it should be ver1.9, but i hardly can remember...correct me if i am wrong^^

the venoms special ability makes them unattackable for a short time, but orcas and stormriders are pretty strong, so they dont need more protection (think about the balancing)

Zu solchen Sachen sag ich immer nur: "Abwarten!"
Ich kann mir einfach vorstellen, dass es irgendwann möglich ist. Wenn man alleine daran denkt, was man heute alles weiß und kann, das vor 100 Jahren als unmöglich galt...am Ende ist alles ein ständiger (Weiter-)Entwicklungsprozess, den man nicht wirklich vorraussagen kann.

Hm, da treffen zwei harte Meinungen aufeinander - ich persönlich, so wie Stygs, wenn ich das mal so sagen kann, sind uns einig, dass es bei der Railgun bleiben wird.

you forgot a very important point: maybe. but you're right, there were some ts units like the titan in some beta's, but i dont know if some really find their way into this mod.

Als letzten, zusammenfassenden Punkt möchte ich zeigen, dass Railguns rein von der Logik her eher die Zukunftswaffen sind.
Von den geschichtlichen Hintergrund des Spieles her gesehen gibt es seit Jahrzehnten andauernde und mit Waffengewalt ausgetragene Konflikte. Es findet eine Art Wettrüsten der Kriegswaffentechnologien zwischen der GDI und der Bruderschaft von Nod statt.
In "unserer" Realität haben erste Versuchsschüsse mit einem Railgun-Prototypen gezeigt, dass die Waffe eine ungeheure kinetische Energie auf das Geschoss übertragen kann, wodurch fatale Schäden enstehen können.
Wenn ich mich richtig erinnere, dann war dieser Versuch von der US Navy durchgeführt worden. Dabei wurde ein Aluminiumgeschoss auf circa 7.000 km/h beschleunigt (Vergleich: normale Geschosse fliegen, physikalisch bedingt, nicht viel schneller als 3.000 km/h).

Kombiniert man beide Informationen, dann ist es vorstellbar, dass die GDI tatsächlich eine kompakte Railgun entwickeln könnte, welche als Kommandowaffe durchaus Sinn macht.
Einerseits ist die Waffe mit Sicherheit nicht günstig und noch zusätzlich wartungsintensiver als normale Sturmgewehre, wodurch ihre Zahl stark begrenzt wäre.
Andererseits ist sie auf dem höchsten Stand der Technik; präzise genug ,um Infanterie zu treffen (im Gegenteil zu den Zone-Troopern und den Panzereinheiten), und gleichzeitig, dank einer sehr hohen Durchschlagskraft, auch gegen gepanzerte Fahrzeuge bedingt einsetzbar.

Ich konter mal dagegen.

Ich würde einfach behaupten, dass es nicht wie eine Railgun aussieht, die man sonst in Computerspielen sieht. Und weiter würde ich behaupten, dass keiner von uns hier weiß, wie eine Railgun aussieht.
Das aus dem einfachen Grund, dass Railguns heutzutage nur als sehr große Prototypen vorhanden sind, welche weit von infanteristischen Handfeuerwaffen entfernt sind. Selbst als Schiffskanone sind sie noch nicht einsatzbereit, da die Technologie einfach noch nicht ausgereift ist (die vorhandenen Probleme bezüglich Energieversorgung und des Verschleiß noch ungelöst sind).

Zu den OICW kann ich nur sagen, dass eben solche Projekte nicht mehr aktuell sind. Die US-Army hat zum Beispiel diese Projekte eingestellt, nachdem das Ganze zu lange gedauert hat und/oder nicht den erwünschten Effekt erwies. Dafür setzt man eher auf neuere Gewehre mit separaten Granatwerfer - ein schnellerer, günstigerer und dennoch effizienter Schritt. Es ist einfacher schon vorhandene Gewehre zu nutzen, die nicht komplett neu entwickelt werden müssen, aber dennoch den Zweck erfüllen. Der Punkt mit dem Granatwerfer wäre bei OICW's zwar besser, aber darauf beshränkt sich der Vorteil auch - Halb MG/Granatwerfer gibt es sozusagen schon, indem ich einen Granatwerfer am Gewehr montiere.

it is his very own opinion. as far as i know a right in the most democratic countries.

as one who is playing this mod since its first release, i know how this mod started. some upgrades were used in this mod before kw was announced etc.

dont forget that this post was nearly 2 years old.
