Oh yeah, I got that showcase the second I saw it. But it has no server browser, I assumed RC8 was the one being supported with the showcase being worked on.

Sweet on the release. Is there an Estimated ETA? (Yeah, an Estimated "Estimated Time of Arrival") :P

Awesome game you guys have here. If you don't mind my asking, how many people are playing RC8 online?

Please tell me there will be a full retail release on Steam. This could easily be the next Battlefield.

How many people play Crysis EX regularly? It looks great, but before I reinstall Crysis Wars and path it and what not I just wanted to make sure that there are others playing.

Thank You,

- Eric

I wish you luck, I just want to say one thing:

I hope you have permission to use those images for your header and poster. Right off the bat I can see you're using a picture by a guy on DeviantArt named Adonhis ( Adonihs.deviantart.com ). If you found it on Google Images, check before posting it. It helps avoid people being rude, calling you a thief and the such, and it avoids trouble later on.

"Like this"? That's gorgeous! So what it's not gritty and oversharpened and following the GoW/UT3 trend. That just looks beautiful.

Good luck! This is looking like an amazing mod, I'd love to see a serious racing game come from the Source Engine.

By the way, have you seen Need for Speed Shift? :P (not saying you stole the idea in any way, just to clear that up)

Yes, because someone is taking a whole day to grab a CD key to a 15 dollar game (actually, 10 on Amazon) JUST so they can get your key blacklisted...

Very nice article :)

I would also like to say, it's awesome to watch a mod from the start to end and you look back at an article like this and still remember when the "Early Character Art" was unveiled and it was all you had to gawk at :P

Not only is that comment rude, condescending and arrogant, it is the kind of 'don't even try, because I can't do it' thinking that stops people from getting anywhere in life.

I say, go for it. Have fun with it. If you fail you learned one of a million ways NOT to do it, and you're one way closer to finding it out.

I may be of use as a 2D artist and would be happy help. Most of my work is posted on my DeviantArt page, although is some I haven't posted on there quite yet or is website work and I won't end up posting it there.

I should note that while I do consider myself somewhat competent with 2D art, I'm not exactly good with textures or actual custom paintings. If you're looking for concept art or a texture artist, you'd definitely be good to look elsewhere.

Keep up that "Oh, mine will never be as good" attitude and it won't. It won't be popular if you always think that others will overshadow it. You have to try to get exposure. You don't think that mods like Mechwarriors Living Legends just automatically were popular do you?

I know plenty what I'm talking about. It may have a similar HUD. Although I can't agree with the buy cart, as many FPS' have begun using a buy system and it's a generic cart icon.

It is not a CLONE though. If you read the description it will include classes and systems that seem to push teamwork.

The HUD is somewhat similar to CS and the one map they have posted is similar to a CS map.

This does not make it a clone.

Being the only resemblance to CS is the fact it takes place in the modern era and shares basic FPS features. It's not a CS Clone. So, I guess that's why.

It's been out for ONE year. There hasn't been many large hardware leaps, it shouldn't require all that much more.

As for the changes:

The theme is the same, killing zombies. But now, with more sun.
There is a couple new weapons, otherwise it's just the same ones reskinned. The only new weapons I can see are melee weapons. And I only could see 3-5 of those. I believe at E3 they spoke of 4 new campaigns, so roughly 12 maps. 4 new characters, which have obnoxious, stereotypical personalities in my opinion. And 3 new zombies.

Look at a mod, take Planetstorm for Unreal Tournament III. It introduces an ENTIRE change of theme, to a sci-fi military themed shooter. Changes the arcade feel to something more realistic. Introduced spaceships, about 6 new vehicles, somewhere are 20 new weapons, that work much differently than the ones that were already there, along with a new way to customize your soldier's loadout. Also turning it from an arcadey shooter to a more squad based shooter.

That would warrant a stand alone game, changing the theme, style, gameplay speed, adding new customization options, 20 weapons that actually act differently, so on, so forth. Of course, that's not a sequel to anything. Sequels probably will have many similar elements.

But as I said before, what about vehicles (plenty of options for use of tractors and cars in L4D I saw), more new zombies, an option to choose from say 16 survivors, the option to make weapons from things you find (say you find some matches in a farmhouse, and a gas can out in the shed. Pour the gas and toss a match. Or use a Zippo and hairspray to make a makeshift flamethrower), maps that are bigger and more open, allowing the use of more tactics.

15,000 * 50 = 75,000

That's a good chunk of money, not to mention some people may not buy anymore VALVe games if VALVe does some idiotic thing with L4D2 by dropping L4D support.

That's around 100,000 dollars. Which yes, even for a company like VALVe, is a lot of money.

Nickelpat - - 119 comments @ L4D2 Boycott Group emails Valve with their demands

I'm not, that is what a boycott is, a group of people not buying the game.

That's not that much new in L4D2. The engine is the same, the gameplay is the same. It introduces new maps, models, and items. One new gameplay element. That is not a sequel.

If they added some new modes (which they didn't) maybe the option to drive some vehicles (running zombies over with a tractor would be awesome). Even something like giving the survivors the ability to carry a rope and use it to climb things.

But they didn't, the only new gameplay additions are the melee weapons and 3 new zombies. 10 maps, some new monsters, models, and one new gameplay change. That's all I saw at E3. If there's something I missed, feel free to tell me and send me a link.

I don't want crap for free. For what I care, release L4D2 at full price. I'm not going to buy it.

What I DO want, is the continued, promised support for L4D, with or without L4D2s release.

It's not the fact that we need to pay for another game. It's that game contains:

A couple more campaigns (I'm guessing around 10 separate maps)
Some obnoxious, very stereotyped reviews.
Melee weapons.
3 new zombies.
Oh yeah, and there's sun.

Why am I paying 60 dollars for that? That's barely an expansion.

Valve is not honoring it's word, it's the principal, not the price.
