I laughed. I cried. Would cube again.

This is unfortunate. Are there any HL2 mods left in existence?

iOS... FREE to those of us who already bought it. -__-
YES. This is what indie really needs that Steam cannot and will not offer those developers. I like this idea a lot. I hope it picks up and gives Desura the niche market it needs to stand out.
What do you guys think of the new movie coming out soon named "Contagion?" Im more refering to the usage of the name than the movie itself.
As soon as I saw the name, I thought of you guys. <3

unfortunately I agree, this looks like a CS:S skin lol
Only 20% royalties with no upfront costs?? WOWZAH! Where is the fine print?
planning to. might as well use game tools with the amount of time spent using mod tools.
I didnt think you could get a Source license for only $15000. :S And if they arent, technically any revenue made while using the Source engine would be "illegal" correct? And could be collected by Valve if they felt the mod team was in violation of the terms of the SDK... ???
Most original art direction for a Source mod; ever.
Best of luck with the launch and Ill be voting for this one in the upcoming MOTY.

Pirating ANY game is "wrong," not just indie's.
They finally got press coverage on escapist like they wanted.
Purpose of this mod is now complete.
Looks amazing.
This game could benefit from the addition of a bullwhip. Anyone who disagrees has never used one. :D
incredible lighting on the model!
Are mods allowed to accept donations if they are utilizing licensed software? I know clothing and donations are irrelevant to the technology, but I was always under the assumption any money made while using an engine was considered "revenue."
I'd like to know what 3 week mod he is talking about as well.
We will all be waiting on his /noreply
Reminds me of Total Annihilation for some reason.
Either way, I love the look. Ill be watching this one. Dont let me down! :D
Good to see you clear things up. This mod is promising and I hate to see teams have internal struggles over stuff like egos. That isn't what modding is about. Regardless, potteh is a great artist and developer, but it seems like he has some personality issues to take care of before trying to be a team leader and PR manager.
I just now realized that the two jerks (JohnStuart and Potteh) are one and the same.
So it seems Potteh HAS returned to ModDB with a new name to take over this unique mod with an iron fist.
Fantastic.
Quick; Someone download this article for archiving purposes before it's taken down.
I smell another firearms debacle.
I would like to say that we congratulate the Dear Esther duo on securing their license with Valve. To "elevate" from the modding scene to the video game industry is a high pedestal most mods never reach so we applaud their feat.
Also, while we are flattered at the notion that SHIFT could ever be a game people would purchase, we have no intentions on commercializing SHIFT for several reasons.
First off, it should be noted that last month EA announced that their SHIFT game would branch off from NFS and become titled "SHIFT 2." This will cause a hairy situation for us regardless of commercialization.
Secondly, what makes SHIFT so unique is the fact it is going to be the first true racing mod for the Half Life franchise since HL Rally. We are proud of our accomplishment and to raise the bar by going commercial would make it harder on ourselves by attempting to compete on a whole different level; in this case, AAA game studios.
Lastly, besides knowing people enjoy our final product and rate us no less than a 10 on their review, our only "commercial" goal is to impress Valve enough so that we secure a Steamworks release. By doing so, we may reach a larger audience. It does not make sense to put this amount of work into a project like this only to have it played by 100 or so people. While this may be possible, it would require a tremendous amount of polish and community support. One of those factors is within our control, the other is not. We do not know what the future holds but we do know we will keep working on SHIFT so as to release a great game to the public.
Im going to wait. I heard from others that the graphics were the only weak portion of this mod. To experience it fully, Im going to wait for the Redux.
Reminds me of global game jam's 48 hr time limit.
Best of luck!
