Not sure - I dont test it on Linux - somebody tested it on Ubuntu and said it worked. I am just using the standard Unity Output for Windows / Linux / Mac and always go for the x86 settings and for Windows x86 and x64. I am currently working on 2 games coming this year and a patch for The Piano - I will try to make it compatible for all OS.

The games is really constructed and focuses on the end. The games has a prologue, four chapters and an epilogue. The third chapter is rather stretched and over long, but still respresenting the situation and feelings of the character of John. I can't really help you by just spoiler every plot point, because this is the mistery of the game. The game is to understand the plot and solve the riddles and finally experience Johns breakdown in the limbo.

I guess I can't give you any greater advice than to experience the plot and the game. There are no really hard gameplay elements in the game. It's basically just atmosphere and plot mistery that has to be solved by the player.

Already read it on your review - and yes the performance is one of the biggest problems with the game. I consider to make it better in the next and hopefully last patch at the end of december 2013. Thanks for the review. JS

Thanks for answering people so much here and testing it so well. I am glad that you care about it. I will try to patch it all this year, but I am not sure if I am able to make it. But I will definately try it. And thanks for the compliments too. "The Piano" was just an experiment and I guess all players clearly experienced it as an experiment. But it seems like it's running well - It gets attention. My job will be to patch everything and I trust you that I will try it. I hope you will find enough time for our next game "The Rotten Garden" too. The development starts in a few weeks. JS

Thanks for the list. I wrote any of your points down for the next patching. I already think about rewrite passages of the dialoges and rerecord it, because people in general didn't like parts of the voiceacting. Play it through - maybe the visual novel aspect will be more understanding to you then. I guess an Adventure needs some more mechanics. The only mechanics in The Piano are the riddles and randomly smashing planks of wood. The riddles are actually part of the story telling, because both are suppose to reveal feelings and thoughts of the main character John and the wood planks - well I wanted to make some more of a challenge for John and somehoew easier for the player without creating a speechbubble or character that says where you have to go - because John is completely alone there - well with his brothers, but he won't help him - OR WOULD HE. Well - that was a bad cliffhanger. Have a nice day. JS

I created the Linux Files and uploaded it to Desura without really testing them, because I don't hav a Linux OS. Unity3D (The engine used for The Piano) promises that the builds should work very similar by coompiling the scripts etc. for the specific OS. So I cannot really say yes or no. I would suppose yes, when the Linux build works, which it should. Desura only tests it by starting it one time. JS

With some tutorials, luck and many sleepless nights! And Thanks - I consider it a compliment and if you mean it like "HOW DARE YOU TAKE UNITY" - I will probably use Unreal in upcoming games - it's kind of better. JS

I don't want to give more detailed information now (since we are in early concept), but to summarize "The Rotten Garden" I would say it's a mix out of "Amnesia", "Pans Labyrinth" and "Silent Hill", but still remaining many original ideas, which will definately increase the experience of playing a horror game with a plot. I hope you will like it.

We planned actually too many games just now. I think I have enough ideas on my list to fill a life time of game development. Looking at the planned games on the list, I would say that there will be many horror games in the future, but also very man other more plot driven. I made The Piano alone. I hope that I can create all games on the list with a real team. Mistaken Visions (we as a team) will not focus on horror games, but on experimental, philosophic, psychologic and innovative games and gameplays - always with a plot in focus. So I guess you can't expect a certain type of game by Mistaken Visions, but you will definately be surprised by every game - positive or negative.

Thanks for the rating and have a nice day! JS

Wow! - I wouldnt give The Piano 10 / 10, but I am really happy that people enjoyed it. I can actually give you hints about the next game, because we already decided which game will be the next in line of development. As I mentioned in some answers, "The Rotten Garden" will be the next game by MistakenVisions. The plot is already very detailed in concept, we still need to write it. It will be an Amnesia-Like Gameplay, but not a Copycat! So you will definately see the connections and influences by Amnesa: The Dark Descent. Mistaken Visions by concept and philosophy is all about plots and emotions in games so The Rotten Garden will be very plot driven and focused on the emotions of the characters.

The Story is about a little girl finding a way to teach her self what is good and evil. The main surrounding the story takes place in, will be an old castle / mannor in which the little girl has to find her parents, because she lost them. During her journey to find her parents, she more and more understands what the place is about and what dangers live there and what it means to do something and living with the consequences. So to increase the gameplay, there will be many decisions, which will influence the characters and the story.

Hi sMtenxit, I enjoyed your video and yes there are these not really intended copyright issues, but I promise we will not have these problem anymore with and after the next game. I hope the game wasn't too depressing for you. I still have too watch some minutes of the video - I will response on YouTube for a more informative response. JS

Hi! Jonathan here from Mistaken Visions. I am just checking out the Freedom Friday games, because I wanted to see what other developers do. I am the developer of "The Piano" btw. And I really have to say The Burrow and Dengen Chronicles TCG are really nice games.

Degen Chronicles looks like a very well done game. It is probably not 100% my type of game, but I really like the style and the whole game on the first impression. I will play it today or tommorow and give you a little review. I hope you will appreciate it. Awesome work!

Hi Fewer Woods, just wanted to check out all Freedom Friday Games since my onw "The Piano" is one of them.

In general I really love experimental gameplays, because I believe that we have to try something new to change the game development for the better. It actually looks really promising and well done. So this is my first impression - very good and very strange and new, which I like. New is always better. I will actually play through it today or tommorow and will give you a little review, because I think you deserve this for a game like this.

I actually talked with a german copyright company about it and they gave me not very clear information about it. The only still problem with copyrighted music is Ave Maria and under current law you can just accept it - you just can't get any money from the advertisement then. The company said that it is possible to use the music in non-profit and non commercial projects. And if you don't accept that , try to think about creating a game for free completely non profit. And still you can move around the copyright problem if you do it right! This is just a first game - I didn't expect to have any attention at all. I already created a team and have a studio and some musicians for the next game. "The Piano" was just a test to see what I am able to do and still you can make videos of it and put it on YouTube! Thanks anyway for the advice. JS

Yes - I respect your opinion too. In a way you have really good points. Chapter 3 was one of the weakest and most in discussion during the development. It stayed the way it is, because this was the first idea for the Game and the real alpha - just Chapter 3. The lyrics are confusing some tiems thats true - on purpose. The player should feel what John feels and at the same time wonder rather he is a murderer or not - well the end reveals the truth and I think it was pretty good in this purpose myself.

So I will definately work on The Piano this yea. And yes a new project is in development. It will be titled "The Rotten Garden". This will be a Amnesia like Horrorgame. But not a Copycat! Just to give you an idea of general gameplays and FPS design. But we will not only make Horror Games in the future.

I don't want to give more information about "The Rotten Garden", but I think you might like it! It will be released 2014.

I enjoyed your video. You actually get chased in chapter 3, there is actually a demon chasing you. We adjusted the jumpscares i chapter 3 already. And I actually don't agree with all your points, but there were some really good arguments in it and I suppose not everyone likes everything. It is for free, the first game. I didn't expect a game like Heavy Rain - did you? So anyways - thanks for the review, but still I have to say you didn't actually understand the core of the game which is fine, because every single playthrough shows other aspects on how to perfect the game. However I don't really want to work on the game any longer, but I will definately patch some stuff.

Oh I acutally didn't get any notice that you commented here. I just saw it now. Thanks for the compliments - I am really trying to make my best and conenct to fans and gamers. "The Piano" is actually nearly finished. Tommorow it will be released on Desura and I am really happy about it. I don't want to waste to much time on a game that should stay the way it is right now. I will just patch bugs and change little things in "The Piano". We have a new project coming *whispering* "The Rotten Garden" and I already love it myself - the plot is already written so you will definately get more games by Mistaken Visions on Desura.com and always on our website. So thanks again for the support. I really appreciate it and I hope you will also like the upcoming projects. It was definately a surprise how much response I got for The Piano - I thought it was "okey" for a first game and some people just love it more than I ever could and I am really happy about that. JS
