Interested in electronic games since i got my first Game Boy when i was 7 years old, i always wanted to "make something with games". After accomplishing the Abitur (A-Level), i've started to study Biomedical Chemistry in Mainz. During the studies, i became interested in the Stargate mod for Empire at War, which was started by Rommel. Together with Kane, we foundet the Stargate Modding Group and i learned a lot about community management, 3d modelling, animation, team management and game developing in general. A bit more than a year ago, i made my dream come true and started to study Game Design at the Games Academy in Germany, which i have accomplished now succesfully. Since April 2010 I am working at ThisIs Digital Media Group as QA Manager and Game & App Designer.

Hi,

usually this is a problem, when you use a...let's say...English vanilla EaW and a...let's say...French FoC. Then the different sound files somehow mess it up. It has usually nothing to do with the mod itself. But as you say, other mods are working fine, this might not be the problem...apart from that, also no idea, sorry :(

A model list is one thing, for which you can easily make a percentage bar. But for a complete mod it's just impossible. Yes, you can write down all the features and mark the ones that are done, but there is so much additional work to do. And how would you seperate it? One model = 1 percent? The whole balancing = 20%? You see, it's really impossible as there are countless tasks to do and many which we are currently not planning with (like bugs)

Well, I know some mods that have/had models with around 100k and as I said, usually the texture size reduces the performance. You should simply give it a try ;)

There is actually nothing to "fix", as the other buildings are sealed and don't need a shield. The shield is just to cover the slaves' huts and the area they are working at.
And, it won't be working as a usual ship shield ingame, so it's just there as an eye catcher, you know?

It's more or less not the polycount, that reduces performance but the textures. How many polygons does it have?

Ah c'com guys, what's up? So you want a copy of the series?
Then we are going to take out all new ships; Goa'uld, Wraith, Replicators and Ori are defeated; the Tauri have only a few ships, which are almost invincible; O'Neill is not part of SG-1 anymore;...will be a great game!

Sorry, but it's just ridiculous to demand that everything shall be exactly like in the series. Don't you think so?

To be "authentic" does not mean to copy the series 1:1, cause that's just impossible and makes no sense for a game.

Who cares btw.?
It's not our goal to make a perfect ultra-realistic 1:1 copy of the series. With your argument, all textures are "wrong", as they are not copies of the series. But they're our interpretation of their art design and we still think that "artistic freedom" is a very good thing. ;)

Check the mod by njkz (download section), he was able to fix the bug. But don't ask me how^^
