HPL Modding for SOMA and Amnesia: Rebirth. Current available mods by me include:
SOMA: Mavs Hard Mode
SOMA: Cutting Room Floor
REBIRTH: No Crosshair Mod
The issue seems to be caused by the save been overwritten as the game can't be saved while another level is loading and the trigger to begin loading the next level is located very close to this particular flower.
I was able to replicate this twice but every time I've tried since then it has worked normally. All I can suggest is that you try waiting around in the room for ~30 seconds before using the WAU flower. If the game successfully saves, you should see the save icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Hey mate apologies for the late reply.
I don't have any issues loading the mod myself. Additionally this mod makes no edits to the InputHandler.hps script so it is unlikely that this is actually an issue with the mod itself. Try verifying/re-installing the game. This mod was made on the steam version of the game but there shouldn't be any differences between legitimate providers.
Apologies for the late reply. I'll look into these issues when I find the time and hopefully release and update. It's possible that the latest official update has somehow broken the mod.
Are there any errors that come up when you try and launch or does it simply crash without warning?
Hi, apologies for the late reply. I have uploaded the fixed version of the mod to the files section. Seems I had updated the steam version but forgot about ModDB. Hopefully it now works without issue.
I just tested with the proxies in the Theta server room as well as the labs and both are causing the correct distortion effects for me.
Unfortunately I don't know what could be causing this on your end so I can't offer any advice beyond re-install the game etc.
The mod shouldn't disable distortion for any of the monsters (at least intentionally). I will look into it when I get the chance.
This mod was not made with the intention of being an "easy" mode as you are right the game is easy enough as is. This mod is to allow people to explore without having to worry about monster attacks or sanity so they can pick up on things that they might have missed and explore areas that you are normally forced to rush through.
Hey mate, sorry for the late reply there's no notifications for comments on files. You need to launch the game through the mod launcher. There should be a ModLauncher.exe or similar file in your main soma directory
Hey mate, although it is incomplete the HPL3 wiki is a good place to start. It has all the information you need to get started as well as helpful tutorials for other aspects of modding. You should also join the official friction games discord as well as there are helpful modding channels where you can ask the community about any questions you have.
V1.1 uploaded to the files section this should fix the issue.
Sorry you feel this way, I don't intend to ever make a 'lite' version myself but if you or anyone else wishes to make a sub-mod with reduced speeds, vision etc you have my full support and I'll even host it on the main mod page if you wish. I am also happy to answer any questions and I made sure to annotate the script files so you can see the values that need to be changed. You can even use the compare Notepad++ plugin to refence it against the vanilla scripts.
Interestingly though there is no 'detection window' coded into the game. Enemy vision doesn't even take into account darkness, there's literally just a single variable that dictates a distance that they physically can't see past.
I looked briefly into them. I managed to get the crawler semi-functional minus some animation bugs but as for patchwork man he is a bit beyond me.
As for the project as a whole I intend to put it mostly on hold as I wish to shift my modding focus to Rebirth for the time being. I intend to release what I have completed so far soon.
