While this is great, they also said that you will not be able to control the number of bots, or set up local bot matches like we can in BF2. I am not against it, but it seems like it will not be the same thing that we all hope it will be. It seems to only be used to fill up servers with bot players so the game never feels dead. But I don't think that means we can play singleplayer offline like we do in BF2.
Also, those thieves who stole the source code to the Frostbite engine have started releasing parts of it. They released over 1gb of data so far out of almost 800gb. So maybe the community will be able to put out mods? I am excited for the Hub that they were talking about remastering older maps in the new engine. So that will be at least good content coming to the game from across multiple eras filling the hole of lack of mods. Thus changing the feel of the game time period drastically between maps.
According to the info we can play by ourselves or just with friends, but online login will be required.

Yeah me too. I do hope they remaster some 2142 maps, holy **** would that be amazing! I think so many of us miss Titan mode the one big game mode that it pioneered, yet was lost to time. Such a shame that mode only got used in BF4 DLC. I was hoping for a more grandiose return.
It's good to see AI is back and Co-op against bots is amazing. But also i think we cannot control the number of them like Anthony said. Also in SOLO mode, maybe AI only available for Tutorial.
In the end, EA will want maximize their profit by online contents not by solo player.
According to the video I linked to Solo will be exactly multiplayer, just with bots. The bots do not use the specialists, but can do all other roles for multiplayer. Online connection is required to play, but no other players are required.
I look forward to just playing with my brother and my nephew. It is confirmed I can create a squad and we just play by ourselves with bots.
According to the same video author, ranking up can be done playing against bots.
Even that i am a bit annoyed about the 2042 hype, i like this very much. To hear there will be single player missions and bot support makes my day.
Btw. Anthony817 they will sue everybody who minimizes the profit by bringing out a mod. I guess. (°ᴥᵔ)
It is said there is no singleplayer missions or campaign.
BF2042 will be like BF1942, BFV, BF2, BF2142. No campaign, but can play the multiplayer by yourself with bots. Online connection will be required to play BF2042 though.
