Ability to run program across different distros would have been really cool, but the problem is that many games with their shiny new engines rely on some newer features, that are only available in newer programs. For example, most of the stuff from steam is compiled against libc 2.15, which can be found in Ubuntu 12.04, that's why it cannot be launched in Debian Wheezy. I doubt the game distributors will force the developers to redesign the engine in order to support the whole variety of distros.

Too bad I have already bought this one on Steam. I really like Desura, but the regional prices are way too different (600 roubles + occasional discounts in Steam against 1221.15 in Desura - the choice is obvious).

UPD: runs perfectly out of box if libglewmx1.6 is used instead of 1.7.

Hello, everyone. I just manged to start this game under Debian Sid x64. It always crashes if launched from Desura or warzone2100.sh and complains smth about pulseaudio. There is a workaround for this: you should install packages libglc0 and libglee0d1 via apt-get (probably the same goes for Ubuntu) and run it using the warzone2100-64 executable or remove from warzone2100.sh script the redirection to the internal libs. BTW this game also included into Debian main repo, you may consult it to satisfy dependencies for installation. I also had to create a symlink ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLEWmx.so.1.7 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLEWmx.so.1.5
