Daily Do List : Check STA3 page, hope for pimped feds. Cry... Watch cardi Ai fleet only one hour into game crush my full fleet + fully upgrades regula station with turrets all around, and 150 self replicating mines with losing any of their ships....cry somemore....
Just wanted to drop a line and say how awesome those ship designs are, very nice work!
In general I noticed the 'hard' opponents seem to have be much stronger, and are punching far above their weight in terms of research, ship numbers and total dps. It seems I need a two to one advantage in raw numbers to have a decisive edge. If this is the result of the ai making overuse of abilities then it's a definite step back for the game. I highly dislike the overpowering of 'hero' abilities and shy away from any game the boils down to exploit stacking, as it belies any logical tactical analysis. In any case coming into a fight were I should have obvious fire superiority and get slaughtered for no apparent reason is severely disconcerting.
What I loved about the previous versions is that it treating ships well, like proper ships. Even the scouts could be useful in combat (let's be honest, the nova scout should be all rights be a more powerful vessel then a Miranda).
The regula starbase in 1.0 (when fully upgraded) was able to take down/hold it own against anything but a substantial fleet. Now it dies so fast even to moderate forces I can't even move a reaction force two gravity wells over in time to save it... This in turns makes picket defense unmanageable.
