Edain mod is not in competition with AOTR. It's only a hobby, we made an alternate gamemode because we know some people prefer the free build while still prefering the other particularities that Edain offers which AOTR does not such as the ring system for exemple or the uniqueness of faction upgrading. This gamemode, while still on work took us less time than what we firstly thought it would. 🙂
Long story short nobody in the rain team has a will to enter in competition with AOTR, Aotr is a god mood that has a lot to offer but offers different things then Edain.

For the rangers I think they won't be included in the 4.7 maybe a small update later. The imladris models we've not talked about them yet I think the current ones do the job quite well

2.no they will be only visible in the campaign, but you will be able if you want to see them through a very little modding really basic.
Just changing the names of the files of each textures would enable you to play with one texture rather than the other
