I won't say much or give a rating since I don't want my opinion to be biased on numbers or stars. I'll just enumerate some of the details.

Yes. Contra Mod has very good AI. Meaning that it's extremely hard. Easiest was already hard. I considered it a challenge and got better. But I'm the type that picks fights levels up and enjoys the game by trying different tactics against the opponent. But in Contra, you won't really get that chance since you are usually defending the base against the enemy's unrelenting assaults. But it did make me better at the game.

The ranking system is a bit harsh since I can't get my powerful units to battle early in the game. I like to beat my opponent with my powerful units early on. But yes this does encourage attacking since you can't get an advance tech building (Strategy Center, etc) without leveling up. My frequent hit and run strikes against the enemy help me rank up.

The new units, buildings, effects are great! Great skinning and great bloody, fiery effects. But some units are a little unbalanced. Some Chinese units are practically invincible. And It'll take quite a while for me to destroy them.

Basically Contra Mod is for those who seek a challenge and for those who want to get better. It's also very epic in terms of units and game play. I really got better my self. Thank you Contra mod team.
