I don't think I've downloaded a single game/mod that wasn't at least partially related to the horror genre.

I understand that the Slender game is incredibly popular (or, at least, was incredibly popular -- don't hear much about it these days). But, how many games are we willing to base off it before we decide that enough is enough?
Obviously some people must enjoy the formula of find pages, don't get caught, but I'm feeling like it's getting overplayed. It's gotten to the point where if I find a game/mod with that concept, I won't even try it. Honestly, I can't decide if it's presumptuous or not. I'd like to believe that with an interesting enough atmosphere and different enough map, the formula could play out as something different, but I'm not willing to sift through all the less-than-satisfactory ones to find such a game.
I'd be willing to try anything suggested to me, at least.
