Thank you very much for the kind words. Means a lot to have this project finally released and seeing that the community is interested in it.

Yes. I held off on announcing it too publicly, because I was assuming for feedback after the tournament, which would then be included in a v3.
But so far v2 seems to run without any problems.

Still, let me know if you find anything.

This is a temporary issue.
We are currently reworking lighting effects. This should not be an issue once the renderer has reached a stable state.

KeMoN - - 140 comments @ No more XP save, Let's measure your skill instead!

For a lot of players the comparison of skill is a big aspect of multiplayer FPS games. Besides that this feature is a lot less unbalanced and unfair compared to XP save, because people keep their rank, but not the skill levels. That means that players that have already been playing on a server for months have the same setup as a completely new player.
XP save is one of the worst features basically all mods include. You could argue to just not have it then, but players want to keep their rank for comparison.
With this feature shuffle votes actually make sense. Currently it shuffles by XP count, however XP count is not a representative of skill, but merely of time played. This results in unbalanced shuffle results. Now it shuffles by actual skill of players.

Besides that and many other features it also gives a huge opportunity for the revival of competitive play in ET. If everything works out well and there is proper server infrastructure and player base, we now have the possibility of implementing some sort of match-making.

I really recommend giving our wiki page a read. This is a truly great opportunity for ET although it might not seem like that at first. If you still have questions, then I'm happy to answer anything :)

I'm not entirely sure whether it would fit Singleplayer, but it would certainly suit Co-op. Neither phisherman nor me are experienced in mapping for RtCW, especially in regards to the AI entities etc. But as soon as the map-source is released, anyone can adapt it to Co-op or even SP.

It a shame that The Renegadist didn't have the time for the commentary. I think it would have been even nicer.

Me too, but RaFaL our UI guy said that objective icons might not be possible after all. Which would be really sad, because I think this is actually a productive way to spend loading time.

Good to know. I will keep that in mind. You know I'm open to a stronger connection between RtCW and ET communities. Especially with our map plans ;)

I will keep it in mind and get back to you once we start implementing them in the game.

Thank you for saying that. I am also dissapointed, but unfortunately the competition is just so incredibly good. I would like to know on which rank we ended up on, but sadly there is no extended rank list.
My thanks goes out to everyone who voted and we have had a lot of new traffic to our site, so this competition was a good thing for us as well.
Congratulations to everyone in the TOP100. I'm voting for Forgotten Hope2 and The Dark Army.

Sounds very promising. I can't even acknowledge the amount of work that comes with a change of engine and switching from a 'simple' mod to an own game. I wish you all the best and have left my vote. Keep going, guys!

Unfortunately, that is exactly what I am saying, yes. The source code has been released, so we can freely use that. However, the assets are still protected by the license.
By assets I mean all textures, models, sounds, icons, UI and HUD. Even the Limbo menu and intro video. The textures are already covered, but that is a comparably small change. I stayed as close to the originals as possible, so it doesn't change the atmosphere, but makes it more detailed. Models are also being worked on and we can use the weapons of The Dark Army to cover the basics, but those are also not that big of a deal. The main issue we are facing are sounds.
Quite honestly, I personally am against remaking them. The voice operators and gamesounds are just so incredibly unique, that we would destroy the nostalgic feeling of the game.
ET: Legacy being stand-alone and on steam means, that we can't use any of that. We would be a completely new game that technically just happens to be compatible to ET. We technically can also not include or promote any of the hundreds of custom maps, because they were made for ET with ET assets.
That is the whole problem we are facing.
What admins include in their servers (skinpacks, soundpacks, maps, etc) is something else, but we can not include any of that in a stand-alone steam version until the license has been released.
