It may depend on version. If you get error messages than it is for sure my bad. You may also check help page there is a list of things might help -> Moddb.com
What's more, if you run your game with cheat options (from start) window, than in game in CAMP menu there will be cheats and more options. You may modify some things, like right to rule, if you really need it.
Also there are two PW legit versions.
First: ULTIMA THULE

Second: We, the Creatures!

Second is older, but it has one thing that newer version is depraved of and this is QUEST system.
You can send your companions to long combined missions, and after their return, you can re-play their story.

Unfortunately, when I was patching / making new version Ultima, accidentally I broke that system, so I had turn it off.

Now, depending on what version you play, you might have different problems, (or positive experience too :) ).

When I say that both are 'legit' is that these two versions present NPC, creatures with expanded conscience presenting more personal approach.

Ultima however lets you steal from other creatures (you have to crouch and come closer to anyone in tavern). Beware it makes game quite easy :)

Summary: all issues come from my and engine limitations, Paradigms are moving to anew environment, more info at the end of November...

If you see any message about missing textures than it is usually a problem of re-installation, it may be caused by ram amount - try playing with option at start game menu especially texture options, on my 'newest' pc i usually have set texture quality at 75% not more, while 10-15 years ago I could run everything on full and twice as big battles as today. Since there were no reports from other people and i didn;t have issues than i think last warband version is all right for PW.

Hello,

I've been quite silent for the past 2-3 years, but I'm excited to announce that at the end of November, I'll be unveiling some playable projects. Paradigm Worlds has been hosted on moddb for years, and I can't think of a better platform to showcase 'new paradigm' projects than here. So, this is the site to watch. The games and projects will also be presented on a special site -> Moddingsimulacra.art.

However, for the time being, this site primarily features an exploration of AI graphic projects. I had to take a 5-month break this year to learn AI. I will address this issue in more detail shortly, but in brief, I can confirm the following:

At least one project will feature graphics that I created using AI, though it's far more complex than the usual stuff.
No one has lost their job; I can't afford 2D graphics because I've already spent my private funds on 3D models, etc., as I prefer to create this graphic content myself.
Currently, my English is far from perfect, so I use it for both writing and grammar correction. Soon, I will update the Paradigm Encyclopedia to make it easier to understand on this website.
Regarding the projects: I plan to introduce 5 (there are currently 3) projects. They are developed on a game engine that can handle both AAA games and indies with ease. This engine is evolving into its next version and will ensure the stable existence of Paradigm Worlds for years to come. The engine is almost free to use, but I need to review my legal obligations before revealing it publicly. Also, I want to express my gratitude to Blender and moddb for their support. I believe they deserve a more official acknowledgment, so apologies, soon you will know better.

If you'd like, you can check out/subscribe to my YouTube account. Any video materials promoting the new projects, including trailers, will be published there. I would like to caution you that, currently, you'll see more AI projects there than Paradigm -> Youtube.com (On the other hand, if you're a fan of Batman, you might enjoy it :))) ). I've uncovered a global conspiracy about his REAL identity, enough to say -> Moddingsimulacra.art

On another note, for now, most projects are free from AI interference, as it's surprising that some people condemn its use. In my personal opinion, some very influential individuals are attempting to restrict or ban AI usage because it grants common people greater freedom and access to knowledge. I explore this subject here, by the way -> Moddingsimulacra.art

Our aim is not to translate Paradigm Worlds mod 1:1, which came as a big surprise. Polls -> Moddb.com

People have expressed a desire for a more personal experience, akin to Skyrim. So, 'vox populi, vox dei,' the voice of the people is the voice of God. You spoke, and I'm acting on it. Also, we're not talking about full games; they are rather very early versions. PW has always been developed for people and with people, and the way PW was developed depended on what you wrote in the comments or messages.

Some projects will emphasize narration through the way the world is perceived. There is also (work in progress) one project with half-opened levels and a narrative. I would describe it as a surreal-military-sci-fi-thriller, as it takes place in PW 10000AD, where the boundaries between cyberspace and reality are beginning to blur.

There is also one total chill-out project that will allow you to relax without worrying about being a prisoner, cannibalized, or besieged. So, no terror (still some combat, but in a lightweight manner), some plants, some animals, a nice exotic island, and pirates... to start.

Come back at the end of November or the start of December, and there will be a lot more information. Right now, I need to focus entirely on finishing the 3rd project. In 7-10 days, I plan to start creating information pages and publish them around November/December.

Hi! Thanks for kind words. No, you shouldn't be depraved of your own banner, as long as you are a noble. Since You write that you owned castle, I think that you had to be one, so there is smth wrong.

You might try start a new game for test and with background choose noble and see if new character will have banner. You can try to change your Faction details in Faction Editor in camp menu. You can see this article (outdated a bit) for more info -> Moddb.com

As to your remarks with FPS issue, unfortunately it depends much on pc you are using. Funny thing is, that if you had a 10-15 year old PC you would probably could have a lot better performance, than with modern machines. 15 years ago I could play battles with 350-500 character comfortable, while now my pc can barely handle 1/2 of that.

Overall on hand I am fully aware of performance issues, but Paradigm Worlds cannot really be developed any longer on Warband engine because I came to moment where each patch was repairing one thing and breaking down other two.

This is why Paradigm Worlds are moving to a new engine, and whole project will be transferred to a new platform.

Around this November, but probably in last days of this month I will present in full all projects that will cover new idea. This is effect of last 3 years of dev, but just by a single person, so do not make yourself too much hopes.
I am joking, I think it is gonna be awesome :)

PS. Something came to my mnind, some players with P with lower RAM mentioned that some textures do not appear correctly in their games. As far I remember that was mostly - also by themselves - tagged as an more a hardware issue, but it may be as well my lack of competence in developing PW on Warband engine.
That's said you might experiment with options in Start Window of Warband. There ar some option to change how textures are loaded etc, so it may help.
The newer computer I had the more work I had to put to make Warband work as good as before. Personally I think it is a miracle that 15+ years old engine is still working in 2023, kudos to Talewords.

Sorry for late reply.
Believe me or not, but current status, balance or no-balance is a result of discussion that is as old as the Paradigm Worlds itself.
You can check though even forum here, that some players could write a small essays on why I should change the balance for / against factor x, let us say, strength of orc troops.
Same as range vs blade weapons and so on.
There is a separate discussion when it comes to the general imbalance, or difference between some troops.
I understand arguments of all sides, many times i indeed re-balanced some troops. I do not only take part in discussion, but also - if there are strong arguments - I am happy to make needed changes.
Also, I encourage you to use very easy and handy tool, Morghs M&B WB-WFAS Editor. By using that tool you can easily edit warband txt files, for instance stats of all troops in game.
Even better, since the code and all assets are uploaded here on site, you can even compile your own version of Paradigm Worlds.
(All tools and assets are downloadable here).
As to number 5, that there could be more new assets, not just reskinned castles from original warband - that could be said about anything in mod, and it would be false. I did what I could, but there were many limitations (time, abilities, knowledge, mod size, etc.)

Thanks for such a detailed review, it is very helpful and your remarks are sensible.
I see an issue related to loop honor-hospitals-disease and additional layer of issue complexity for ai.
As far I remember, chances for starting disease are bigger then for its ending, so it should be 'popular' - maybe it is too much.
Also as far as I remember era 10000 is very much designed to be hard at the beginning, but relatively easy later. It is because faction towns and castles do not create single mass, but are spread through whole world and that is harder to defend for AI.
So yes you should observe a lot of changes, chaos, but naturally for a skilled general this is a dream situation. On the other hand, scenario with one dominating faction (like 7022) may be more challenging...
- Orders - being overpowered / use rather own troops so it is more interesting.

That is the case with Paradigm Worlds that I wanted to give as much possible freedom to the player.
If you play PW to win, to maximize etc. you can, but it is more fun when rather role-play, build your own story, own narration.
And then you do not just use most powerful tools, but those that are best for your playstyle.
Do note, that there is huge section in menu where you can edit stats, power of weapons and even doomsday clock itself.
You can stop it, or set it at desired 'day'/position.
Also I think, that PW offers so many features, mechanics that if you use them all together it becomes quite easy. And again that is why I often use handicaps for myself, increasing powers of enemies.

Also as you see, character editor is not blocked in any way, so you can shape your favorite creature as you want. (Trick: If you speak with your companion and tell him you want to him to lead party, you can use character editor to edit his stats)


As to mentioned bugs... 1. Setting custom lord titles for your faction makes the whole worlds lords copy your naming scheme, which is annoying. - I thought I got rid of that...
2. Setting custom names for personal troops also reverts back to standard ie "personal praetorian" if you load the save. - shame, I really spent a lot of time to make personal troops work.

Generally, after applying most modern features like diseases and this whole GREAT RANDOMIZER thing, I relized that many other things got broken or stopped working as intended. It took me at least 3 months to make encyclopedia back to work, it is as good as I can in this subject.

I suspect you are playing the latest release Ultima Thule, but since you are not a fan of diseases, you can check earlier release - it is also quite playable.
It is named We, the Creatures! and does not have great randomizer, but it has working quests for companions.

Also, since this mod become very hard for further development, I have decided to move Paradigm Worlds universe into a standalone project on more modern platforms.
Currently I am working on 2 projects, one is happening in 10000 era, and another in 6077. I am sure I will be able to reveal more before the end of this year.

I tell myself that when I finish my current project, 1 of July, I am gonna play myself Paradigm Worlds - mod. I haven't seen it for - probably - over a year. And I am delighted, because I have forgotten how mechanics work, and finally I will feel more like player, not a tester.
I cannot wait.

Hi. Thanks for suggestions, some of them as well as mentioned error/bugs where discussed here before.

In short: battles max troops are easily editable. All you have is to edit your warband config file, this works for all mods and vanilla as well.
Current 'default' battle size is set to allow WB to run more or less smoothly. It depends when you have started playing Warband, but I remember having 15 years ago some puny 1.6GZ amd dual-core that had 300-400% efficiency, while modern computers can run warband at 70-80%. Well, at least when it comes to Paradigm Worlds. And believe me I have implemented most possible ways to make battles run smooth.
In general battle size is up to You.

Low or High party members is totally dependant on Your playstyle. My 'job' is to provide players with possibility. You want to have 30 companions and spend 1/4 game just playing with their stats and equipment? Here you go.
You just want a couple of friendly faces? Nothing more simple - as you know there is a menu where you can choose how many companions you have on start.

Another thing is a question of 'desolated world'. If you refer to a amount of living creatures, that fact there is less them than us currently. On the other hand I wanted to do the opposite - bring more life, (at still keep impression like it is not).

Ladies/Lords bug would require rewriting a huge part of game/mod. It is doable, but would take 2-3 months and I always felt there are some more concerning issues.
To expemplify, creating missions module took me about 3-4 months, (including testing, writing texts, coding), but it was a huge change. Now, you can start dialogue with companion, check what he likes, what are his good and weak sides, and send him on a mission.
And exactly that part 'solved' issue with large amounts of companions and micro-management. Thanks to 'missions' you could get rid of them for a short time, while they actually do some positive things for Your company/party/quest/etc.

Hi man, sorry. I am not sure what exactly You want to edit in custom troops, but you should just talk to them.
Which means, when you have opened party screen, click on the custom troop you want to edit and start conversation with it.
Also generally it is good to talk to Your creatures in the party, as they can tell you some additional details.

Does that happen always with any harbour, or just a single one? That should not happen at least for classic scenario - year 6077.
Limitation of engine is fact that there can be only one map with specific town locations. So when player chooses AGE, code does relocate all towns, instead of let say load a new map.
Anyway, soon there will be a new engine new Paradigm project, and honestly, I am working on it at 100% to publish it before new year.

Yes it is a feature, not a bug. Really. Inside mod there is an ini file, inside it You can edit these values.

PW one of the basic goals was to offer max freedom, and freeing skills was logic. On the other hand many things require more than one skill, and that is where player can specialize.

Usually this is some error in DL. You may try STEAM version if it is not a problem, or redownload.

OH! Try at the start menu pick/unpick LOAD TEXTURES ON DEMAND.

1: Uploaded a special graph map world pack, jpgs/png and additionally a tiff file, which is main graph project, with adjustable layers, editable in photoshop or any other app that can edit tiff files.

Additionally there are some pictures there, You can save as [right click mouse] on them and save to your desktop.

2. There is an Encyclopedia page dedicated to Paradigm Worlds, Warband, with maps -> Moddb.com

3. As explained, PW, may last in various eras, historical/geopolitical variations, that is why there is IN-GAME map view. It is featured under REPORTS, World map./ political map/

4. You can specify what exactly else you need, but if I have it, I will upload or let you know where you can find it.

1 - POIs? don't understand that. Anyways, generally PW is highly adjustable in reference to risk/reward. I agree that PW may look generous at start in default, but depending on ERA it may be randomly challenging too.
You may check PARADIGM MENU in-game, in camp menu, and make it harder / easier.

2 - Krafting - yes, it probably could be done better. On the other hand there were people on forum here, that managed to craft needed items. PW is a mod that has demanding learning curve, that's the price for complexity.

3) Which rewards? But generally reward/risk -> see 1)
4) Renesans orcs? I am not sure what do you mean. It looks like you have used GRAND RANDOMIZER or smth like that, and it randomized race for specific faction. In that situation, yes, it may lead to hmm unexpected results, but blame RNG-god not me :)

I don't think there is a discord for PW.
To be precise, I think there was someone from forum here, player, and he has created channel or whatever people do in discord, then I have created blank channel as well, but I have never actually used it.
I do work on many projects simultaneously, so I already spend most of time on modding/design etc. and as much as I would love to maintain some new channel in some new media, I am at my full capacity now.

However, if you think that discord could be helpful, or you wanna run it/test it, or whatever people do on discord, I am totally cool with that. What I mean is that u don't my permission to run it, just let people know here, let me know, so I can post article / note etc. and that is it. And I'll be happy to join it, or see whatever is happening there.

I do realize, that it might be fun to do something more with the universe, or PW, in a way, that people from here could virtually meet and talk, and certainly at some point I will try to take care of that.

So far forum itself isn't really doing bad, I have a feeling, that people are ok with communicating by writing, so if you are interested in anything particulary just ask here, or on the dedicated forum and I am sure, me or someone else will respond. It doesn't matter if you wanna ask smth or just make a point about some concept, you are welcome talk about whatever is playing inside you.

Certainly Chinese culture, which reaches times of ancient Egypt, Sumer, etc deserves attention.

But, I have my doubts, personal:
1. I am not likely follow trends, and there is already lots of that (closest to warband in China is probably total war 3 kingdoms?)
2. As I tried to do some research, tried couple Chineese book like Golden Lotos or some criminal medieval-time stories, generally read a couple history books, some about ancient times, some about more recent events like era of comrade Mao and honestly I still cannot grasp it.
For instance: Japan / Shogunate is easy to archetype because it was popular in all karate/ninja movies on pop level. In the movies of Kurosawa or Takeshi Kitano, etc. there was reception on high-level culture, so most people know who is ninja (or at least has some imagination about it), shogun (thanks James Flavell too, and certainly Imdb.com too, or The Last Samurai, and so on, and so on.
Sai, katana, nunchako, bushido etc they all exist in our common imagination as part of very widely understood 'japanese' culture.

Now in comparison, fine, I like a lot Jet Li as Hero in Imdb.com and one of my favorite directors is Wong Kar-Wai for what he did in In the mood for love - Imdb.com - but I can't have grasp of - how actually I am supposed to translate that into game/mod/paradigm language.

3. By the way, I've been travelling a bit, I've been to Lao, Thailand, Myannmar(Birma), India, Nepal, Kambodia - and I agree that each of them is fascinating, people are fantastic - but I am not sure I would want put these into such a cruel place like Paradigm Worlds. Not after what they have been through, or where they are now.

4. And naturally AmousN has point too, just make them.

One of the latest features You could do in Paradigm Worlds was sending your companion to a Quest. Quest worked like mission, but player could 'play' a role of a companion and relieve in live his story.

This feature is available in We, the Creatures! - but during my work on the final release, somehow it got bugged, and I couldn' t make it work again.

So if you are particullary interested in this Quest feature, you can pick We, the Creatures.

Otherwise pick final version - Ultima Thule.

By the way: Quests have same structure, but events are random, and thus is story told by companion. If you turn on edit mode (which is also a debug mode for Warband) then story will automatically save as text in file placed in Warband root directory named rgl_log.txt.

In one sentence: I am sure I'll come back to Bannerlords, as a player, not sure as a modder.

I can however, GUARANTEE, that Paradigm Worlds with all it's creatures is a long term project. I have in plans expansion to other titles and at some point probably more.

I have prepared a little side project - overhaul for X4: Foundations - and it is been transformed according to a Paradigm Worlds universe.

Turbo Lanzer is a pilot who dares to use over-equipped ship to cross limits. Some of them use huge guns, others - powerful engines. Over-powering ship does not only come with benefits, it needs skill to tame such a powerful beast.

This is one of many examples of seeking extremities in X4. This gigantic fleet may indeed fly over space, hundreds of ships in all sectors. Unfortunately impact on framerate is obviously huge. In Turbo Lanzer all additional ships given to faction are modular, ie - player can turn off/on each faction sub-mod.
In alpha versions all faction have a lot more ships, but not as much as on this screenshot, to keep frame rate a decent level.

I know I don't like it too. Changing animation / movement for objects is possible of course but in case of mounts that would require complex rebuilding of the mount code/mini-engine and messing with animation and skeletons for animation. Two last mentioned can cause lots of crashes if messed too much, and Paradigm Worlds is using troops and skeletons for instance the last days (tolkien mod) but also some animations from other mods.
So it could be a pandora box.
