Just an average guy trying to do his best to follow Jesus the Christ!!

For about a year now I've been working to completely move my whole life (computer wise) over to nothing but open source software. First I'll say that, yes I wanna be a programmer one day, but as of right now, I'm FAR from being able to take the source of anything and do even the smallest thing to it. I am only doing this because I very strongly believe in the open source movement and philosphy. So many very great things have sprung up so quickly over just the last couple of years, and they grew so fast because they were open sourced. And it gives a certain feeling of "freedom" that closed source software can't give you, even if its free.

It has been hard, but only in the sense of using ONLY open source soffware, and there are some "niche" things of life that are hard to find alternatives for. Cause the things you do find that are open source, are alot of times VERY good and in some ways much better than any closed source stuff. I've gotten to about 85 to 90 percent of everything covered. All my compturs run nothing but Linux, and on those machines I only use a program if its open sourced. I have rooted my Droid 2 Global and running Fission Rom, and try to use only open source Android apps (very hard to find on the Market ) And I try to only use an online service (like email) or website if it uses open source servers and keeps its code freely available. Even if I absolutely love a program or website service, I always contact the developer and find out if the source is freel available to everyone and if they use open source servers. If not I apologize and say that I can't use their service or program.

Now I've gotten some odd looks from friends, and some stingy replies to my emails when I say I can't use their service or program. But each time, it adds one more voice to the open source movement. And I'm not gonna change my way of things here on Desura either. If a game doesn't totally release its code and doesn't use an open source game engine. I probably will not play it. No matter how cheap it is or even if its free.

So in light of that. I don't know how much actual activity I'll have on my profile here on Desura, but we'll see won't we. :-)

Side note for anyone that might suggest any games. I'm a devout Christ follower. And so I don't play any games that portray demons or magic, and am kinda iffy on Aliens. I know Open Arena is on here, but it has skeletons and have naked girls. So that is outa the running lol.
