Thanks!
Sorry for the overlong delay in the reply. You can get your hands on the alpha at Itch.io: Jellyfishgames.itch.io
Hi alexsei, for now we are going to be limited to English only. The localization challenges for Astrobase Command are far greater than changing one set of text for another.
Our AI builds sentences all the way down to individual words at times. The technological challenges of getting English to make sense have taken the last three years to get right.
Adapting that tech to different languages may require fundamental changes to the code that could take more time and budget than we'll have to make them.
We hope you'll be able to enjoy it in English, though! :)
Thanks! Appreciate the support.
Congrats to all!
A great showing! Very glad to see that the talented DSS crew has gotten the recognition they deserve for their beautiful work.
We were originally going with square modules, but it looked kind of derpy. The cylinders really helped set the look apart. The inside of the cylindrical modules can hold up to 4 different sections/rooms, so those can be configured as you desire, within certain limitations.
We've also got plans for larger hangar modules, but we haven't implemented them yet.
Our camera is fairly flexible and does currently allow getting inside the station, but that isn't exactly where we're planning to take the game so far.
Having said that, we're playing with the idea of turning some station layouts into playable levels for some popular FPS if we have the time to get to it.
Would that earn at thumbs up?
What a great contest, we're jazzed about the love you always show to us indies! Keep up the great work, IndieDB.
Hi pcgeek01: We're leaning heavily on procedural processes for everything from planet generation to item component building and up to creature generation. You should have a unique experience every time you play.
That's what we're planning the Steam Early Access target for.
We're still working on post-Kickstarter funding options. We need to be fair to everyone and not bury ourselves in a mountain of paperwork that will keep us from working on the game.
Keep following us on www.astrobasecommand.com and here for more information in the new year.
@rsdworker: we're looking at a possibility of setting up a separate PayPal initiative. We will be sure to post any news of that here. You can also follow us at www.astrobasecommand.com for updates following the conclusion of the Kickstarter campaign.
@Jetcutter, thank you for supporting. Even if the Kickstarter fails, development will continue to progress. It won't be as fast, but we will be making this game one way or another. Backing has added you to our mailing lists, so you'll be directly informed of our progress.
We're still in early pre-Alpha stage. The various parts work, but aren't tied together by the AI Storyteller yet, and there is not enough content at this stage to warrant getting it out to the community.
We're working hard to bring all of this together. A successful Kickstarter campaign will help us accelerate the process, allowing us to have a playable beta by late Spring 2014.
