It was one of these two: 1) they represent each faction in a neutral area. So for example you can join Freedom and then go talk with the duty representative there. or 2) a missing feature. I don't remember, sorry.

The "loner" faction is Defiance. You join them by doing quests for them. If you want to be a literal loner (i.e. lonesome wanderer with no faction), just don't join any faction. It doesn't really make much sense for this mod, but you can do it.

Crashing when talking with traders seem to be a recurring problem, since Zrow complains about that below too. Just to be sure, you are following every step, right? It's a clean CS install, no other mods, all patches applied (the ones in the main download and "Patch 3", see downloads), and fsgame modified. It has been like 8 years since the last time I played this mod, but I don't remember crashing from traders.

The other problem is certainly a bug. It takes some time, but you should be able to join factions after doing several jobs. Try focusing a single faction (i.e. only working for Freedom), and talking with the faction leader after some time (either Chekhov or Lukash, I don't remember). It could be related to the traders not working.

Ah, I read the description, but I misunderstood the category thing. The first "fetch" quest was the tech asking for tools, so I didn't bother cycling through them. Sorry!

Sorry if I'm asking something stupid, but "give items/mutant parts" quests aren't showing up. I'm testing it with Monolith in the Palace of Culture, and Krolik is showing only one quest in PDA (kill a stalker), but has 4 other quests if talked directly (all items/mutant parts/artefacts).

isn't that the case in most stalker games? reputation may be a factor too.

Did you install all patches in the correct order? Other than that, I'd suggest to try out Anomaly's Warfare.

If this happens with only a particular save, then it's corrupted. Can't do much. Always remember to make separete saves and don't rely on quicksave. If it happens with every save (even from a new game), then reinstall.

I figured. Gloss factor is 7, right? Not 0.7.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do you set brightness, saturation and gamma to 0? Lowest I can set them is 0.5, and I don't think saturation at the lowest value is intended. Did you mean 1?

I don't remember exactly, but are you sure he is suppose to be there? Maybe the faction leader is Sakharov? If you are sure he is suppose to be in the bunker, you can try changing levels. If that doesn't work, I'd say he is bugged and gone forever... but who knows, Clear Sky is full of secrets.

No faction selection menu friend. You start in the bloodsucker village. Follow the mission, and a squad will lead you to any faction base you want. Once there, you need to talk with the faction leader, do missions for them, and once you are trustworthy you can join. Mercs can be joined inmediately.

I mean, you are a loner by default, right? You meant that companions are not available for loners?
