Recently I've encountered serious problems on "Villers-Bocage" map:
- the spawn is not designed too well: units very often get stuck because of the base emplacements and wouldn't move;
- this map is generally a pain to play, because of all the bushes etc. that ruin the units' path-finding almost completely.

It is a pity, since it's the only tight (not wide) map there is in the battlefield pool, and such maps have a potential to provide the greatest opportunity for direct clashes and even stalemates.

Hi!
Is there any way to use your models in campaigns/vanilla skirmishes, or are they only for customs and multiplayer?

Germany, as well, as all it's allies , got exactly what they have deserved, or, more precisely - far less, than they should have, and what soviets could do to them, since if they would just let their vengeance free, they would have to kill no less than fourteen millions of civilian population of axis countries, and they've barely killed less than one (throughout the entire war, and without any mass executions, unlike nazis and their allies) - that's about only a half of what allied (US + Brits) bombings killed.
In short - you are just either plain dumb, or some outright nazi, as your nickname pretty much suggests.

Nice.
You have massive plans there - very ambitious, I must say :)

Below follows the wall of text, that is quite likely to be of little-to-no interest to many, thus these many better should avoid it:
Considering veteran (which is basically "battle hardened") units:
veteran units could be called "guard ...", such as f.e. "guard rifle division" (13th guard rifle division fought in Stalingrad), "guard tank brigade", "guard regimental MLRs (Multiple Launch Rocket System)" for Katiushas, etc.
"Guard" status did not necessarily mean, that each guard soldier is super highly trained - reinforcements were often drawn right out of training camps.

Summary: One thing is for sure - most certainly, all guards were quite well equipped, thus "guard" prefix could serve well as for distinguishing veteran infantry units for the purposes of the mod.

This brings me to suggest the following chain of progression of basic infantry units:

peoples militia* - conscripts - veteran conscripts - guards.

(*Although, in my opinion, there should be no such basic unit as an unarmed/partially armed, and militia, as a mass of poorly/partially armed and untrained, except for the squad leader, infantry unit should be rather a "support"-type call-in, somewhat like Volksschturm (german civilian militia of 1945) - great in numbers, and worse in terms of arms).

Hereby follow few things that surprised me (not to be taken for complaints):
- high abundance of naval infantry, who, in fact, comprised no more then 0,4 percent of the red army of the time;
- no partisans (sorry, if there are - I didn't find them), though over 2 000 000 soviet people took part in the movement throughout the war.

Anyway - your effort is highly appreciated, and the result is exceeding expectations :)

Oh! And good luck with your diploma work!

Hi, long time, no see :)

I wonder, if you plan (I wish you were) on adding option of ordering individual infantry troopers of various kind (f.e.: individual sub-machinegunner, individual lmg, etc.).

One other thing I want to ask, is weather you are going to change the dubious (and mythical, but quite successfully propagandized by the hollywood) loadout of soviet conscript squad with 4 men unarmed - it is very unfit, in my opinion, for any multiplayer-like mode of play, and, if it matters, makes me **** with hot water.

I also wonder, why do you place militia (who are, simply put, armed civilians) on a higher level than conscripts, who in any way have received no less than 3 months of basic training? Probably, they should be switched with one another - it would sort things out in historical aspect, but gamewise a squad with half men unarmed is just bad, and takes way too much time to handle.

That aside, thank you for you hard work!

P.S.:More maps, and/or scenarios (such as those in tutorial section) would be great as well!

I can tell you my very own personal and humble opinion:
Soviet faction, the way it is being featured in this mod, has little to no correlation with vanilla factions, and thus requires a completely different understanding and playstyle to be somewhat effective.
Things to acknowledge and remember:
1. Infantry, if we are taking same resources spent, can never stand up to an equal opponent in a direct combat.
2. Tanks, due to inhumanly bad accuracy, require a sh1tload of micro to be effective, basically you have to baby sit them.
3. All in all, the victory is achieved mainly through map control, due to possibility of fielding many cheap squads and fast rate of reinforcement, but never through the actual battlefield victory over the opponent's army of the equal, in terms of resources and time spent, strength.

Summary: SU is designed in a very bad manner, basically turning them into a rogue faction, which I dislike, disapprove, and disagree.

Massive insight! Thanks!
When I was talking about artillery, I had the quantity in mind - they had the most arty saturation per front-line with average of some two thousand guns per every one thousand meters of the front.

OK, thanks for clearing that out. It seems as an interesting feature, the way you describe it.
I was thinking about famous soviet artillery supremacy of the Soviets (in simplified way you can say, that every army had some outstanding feature: air supremacy of US, naval supremacy of UK, armor one of the Reih, and artillery one of the Soviets): will it be anyhow reflected in their design? Maybe some heavy off-map artillery bombardment on request?
I wouldn't know if it's plausible in terms of balance though, so it's just my curiosity, not as much of a proposal :)

Modernization of units on the field? Hopefully not. You are talking about the menu of request (call-in options), right? Otherwise it would look too wild, if units would be changing in the midst of battle.
And why even bother about such doubtful features, but not just give an option to order any unit a player wants, as long as he can afford it (different price and tech level)? Or, if you so wish, make it not a temporary ability, but a voluntarily made upgrade, with respective costs of units in the line going up, so a player would have to make a choice weather to keep producing cheaper, but crappier units, or to advance to better but more expensive ones.

Are you planning to make a working short/vanilla ranges version?
Would be nice to have one :)

Couple more questions:
"-New realistic vision for all units",
is only in range that it differs from vanilla?
"- New script for IA soldiers",
can you, please, provide some more extensive description on the changes introduced, if it is possible?

Awaiting your reply. Thanks in advance.

Hopefully, by the actual story, which is very well documented, and there's a detailed reconstruction film about it, literally in minutes and names, as well.

And, I know it's not all that easy , but are you plnning this to be AS compatible?

Will it be possibly to enjoy all the new infantry/weapons/ammo models and skins separately from all the other content of the mod?

It would sure be a very nice thing to have as a sort of a models & skins pack, that could be activated as a mod, and could still play the original game as is , but with new looks.

1. Unzip the downloaded archive to your "...\men of war - vietnam\mods" directory, it's within your game's main directory. If there's no "mods" folder, you have to create it manually.
2. Run the game, go into "options" menu, then go into "mods", select the mod you want to activate from the list on the left, press ">>" using your mouse (left-click), press "apply" in the bottom-right corner of the window.
3. Play.

Scope for sniper rifles is a very nice and needed addition, if you're playing with the "fog of war" enabled, esp. if you turn off "enemy markers", and on any difficulty above "easy".
And, more importantly, it actually works ;)

Thanks a lot!
