Every August 9th, it is National Day in Singapore. This is the day where Singapore is expelled from the Federation of Malaysia in 1965, this is also the day where Singapore become independent.
In a few hours time, the celebration and parade will commence. This is to celebrate our 48th year of independence, as a nation, as one. This year's National Day theme is "Many Stories, One Singapore". It calls on the citizens to remember and share the stories that make them who they are and how they identify themselves as Singaporeans.

Every year, "My People, My Home" is played at the start of the ceremony. It was the National Day Song in 1998.
At 8.15 SST (Singapore Standard Time), the Singapore Civil Defence Force chime sounded over the national public warning system, which had invited Singaporeans to recite the Singapore national pledge as one nation. All radio stations and TV channels, will stop regular programmes to bring The Pledge Moment 'live'.
