Small-time indie developer working on Beast Boxing Turbo, among other things! Longtime programmer still learning the game dev ropes, but lucky enough to work with some incredible artists. I live near Los Angeles, and personally like sim, strategy, action, and role-playing games.

Crazy! IIRC there are 7 levels of NG+. Good to hear you and your son are still enjoying the challenge!

Hey there, thanks! Unfortunately I don't have access to FFB controls directly in the Unity engine. I can take a quick look at it next time I have a chance, but can't guarantee anything. Sorry!

Also, the mechanics in this game are quite different and don't have body blows. As you watch more tutorials, it'll show you how the guard meters show an overall vulnerability, and jabs > hooks > uppercuts, left > right as far as hit probability goes. It uses that to have much more unpredictable gameplay than a puzzle-style model like Punch-Out (which actually only has four punches and a special!). If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks! It's on sale for the whole first month of launch (till 3/5), after which it goes back up to $4.99. If it ends up on Steam, I'll be happy to send out Steam keys for anyone who bought through Desura or direct on my website.

There are control defaults for keyboard, keyboard+mouse, 360 controller and generic controller, and they're also fully customizable. It's a bit more fun with a joypad, but keyboard is good as well. Maybe some of the players can chime in with how they play?

OK, I'll take that as another vote for a Linux version - I might try to sort out releasing a Linux build next week, if it just works out of the box with Unity. Watch the project and I'll post news if/when that happens!

Yes, it's rather... beastly.

On a serious note, I actually made the last boss harder in 1.1 because too many people were beating him quickly. He should be really difficult, then when you beat him you'll feel awesome. :)

Sorry to hear that. I think you're missing out on some great titles from all sorts of genres (Bleed, Metroid, Legend of Fae), but as a gamer, it's totally up to you what you want to play.

Glad you think it looks good otherwise. :)

Possibly - it would be a pretty big undertaking on the programming side, and require new art to make sure the first person perspective makes sense for different characters / special moves. It's something I wanted to do, but just haven't had the budget for as it's a pretty big project.

I did have a prototype working at some point without special moves or new arm/glove models, and someday I may consider doing a kickstarter project to fund it. It really depends on the community interest - so make sure you and all your friends bug me about it from time to time. :)

Sent you an email - I'm wondering if this is a timezone issue, as I'm in PST and it shows as pre-order for me still as well.

Whoops! I guess the installers I uploaded had individual release dates before the overall game "release date" - well, no harm done. :) Glad you like it, and yes, the Desura version is definitely DRM-Free.

IIRC, both PC and Mac version installers are <150MB, and the game itself is a tad over 400MB. So make sure you have at least 650MB free.

Ah, that's actually just an early concept piece Khang did before we settled on first-person view. :) The screenshot in the bottom right shows how you just see your own gloves as your avatar.

Yep, you're right about the cross - but I never really mention stance in the game. It's one of those design decisions I came down on the side of Punch-Out and arcade mechanics with.

Thanks for your question, it certainly made for a fun blog post! The game is designed for first-person perspective only. The action is very streamlined from regular sim games, and much of the game is about jumping in and out of alignment to attack/defend quickly. You can move side to side, but not front-to-back, and attacks are jab (L&R, no independent cross), hook, and uppercut. Instead of a triggered quick dodge, it worked better to let the player work on keeping distance when needed. It was also a budget necessity since we self-funded and were learning a lot as we went along. :)
