Or try claiming the Steam key. The very top news post explains how to do it: Indiedb.com

The alien invasion escalates over time at a fairly stable rate. So Corvettes etc will appear after a certain amount of time whatever technology you have (or have not) researched. Bear in mind the game's not balanced properly yet though, so the difficulty level can be quite patchy in places!

Yes, the Desura version will continue to be updated. You can use this instead of Steam if you want.

I don't know why the standalone file is malfunctioning but there's an updated one awaiting authorisation anyway, which is a much more stable version. Best to wait for that!

Steam keys are now available if you have a Desura key. If you want to claim yours, then go to this link: Secure.desura.com

A quick note - if you're trying to update the game, you might find it easier to download the standalone .rar files from the sidebar on the right of this page.

That'll be more stable at the moment, as we've having a little difficulty with the auto-updater again (though hopefully that'll be resolved soon).

We'll do an updated demo in the next month or two I think.

We're having some issues with the Mac version, please bear with us. The latest OSX isn't compatible with the current or previous versions of Xenonauts and we're trying to figure out what the incompatibility is caused by.

Should be out now - but if it's not installing at all, that's a problem more with Desura than our game. Perhaps try the standalones on the right of the screen?

Yup, the new build is awaiting authorisation so if you can't download it at the moment, that's why (when a new build is awaiting authorisation the old one is not downloadable any more).

Unfortunately given it's new year's day in Australia now it may be another 24 hours or so. If you're interested, the changelog is here: Goldhawkinteractive.com!

We'll release a proper news post on this page once we've confirmed there are no game-breaking bugs in it!

Anyone who has bought the game will get a Steam key on release. Steam don't really do the whole alpha-funding thing, they'll only take the final game when complete.

If you're logged in on the site and the download links on this page and the Desura client aren't working, and you've definitely bought the game, it's best to get in touch with Desura about it as we don't have access to their payment systems etc at our end.

They should sort you out, though.

Try the standalone links on the side of the page? They should work if the Desura client is having problems.

Indeed. If people can get over the fact we're using WINE, we'll support the Linux version as best we can.

The save issue was a bug with the demo (which is an old build now), it should be fixed in the pre-order version.

Developer here. Our latest build (V17.1) seems to be stable again - we've finally fixed that damn crash. As such, we've now ported it across to Mac and Linux and we're uploading those standalones now. They'll be down until Desura authorise them but that should be less than 24 hours.

We should also have a solution to the Desura client download issues in the next build, we hope. Sorry for the issues that has caused.

I'll write a (long overdue) news update in the near future to tell you all what's going on on the project and the beta - you can find it here in the meantime though: Xenonauts.com

This only happens when Desura are authorising updated files, in this case from V16 to V16.1. Most of the time they'll be there.

The map will be made prettier, but it'll stay a flat 2D map and no, we're not planning to model accurate travel times at the poles. That's the price you pay for the situational awareness of being able to see the entire map at once.

Yeah, we're working on this. We'll release an update once we've got it fixed. Sorry about that.

Developer here. Just to make everyone thinking about buying this aware that there's quite a major crash bug in the game at the moment that means you're not likely to be able to get through more than a couple of crash sites before the game CTDs.

It's been in the game about a week (since V16) and we're working on fixing it. We thought the last update (V16.1) had fixed it, but it hasn't. It now seems it had a different cause to what we thought it did, so we're still working on it. Hopefully we'll have it patched out in the next few days but be aware that the game will be rather unstable until then!

Sorry about the MCF issues; it seems our file setup is not very well optimised for how Desura works. If you aren't able to download the game on Desura, then please log into this site and download the standalones from the sidebar on the right. I'll let everyone know when we make some progress with this issue!

The game is likely to come out mid 2012, but there's no firm promises in that regard. It'll come out when it's done - but at least as we keep improving it you can keep playing it!

Yup, it works the same as for Overgrowth in that respect - preorder and get to play a build of the game, and give us your feedback as we go about finalising the game.

The game is fully in 2d. The 2d sprites are generated from 3D animated models, but they're then post-processed in Photoshop etc. It's intended to be a modern take on the retro 2D isometric genre.

Yeah, the downtime was a lot longer than we thought (the site is quite complex with the pre-order functionality). Site's up now, it'll stay that way.
