C&C3 mods

GladiatorJ Blog 1 comment

recently i have been playing mods for command and conquer 3 and some of them are fabulous but i couldnt help noticing that some are incomplete. This annoys me as i want to play a mod with all the features the maker says he's added and not hae to wait until his 8th version for all of those promised things and for all of those things to have been properly debugged.  My advice is that if you are a mod maker then please only release your mod once its 100% complete then we can play it strait away and not have to wait for the finished article.

To your Blog, you cant expect a mod release to be fully done on its very first release, especially if it says 'beta' or is a V0.4 etc, it is just an easier way to find bugs to fix for it to become a top notch mod when it reaches that 100%.

People would love to release a mod when its 100% Complete, but many are impatient and want a beta to play about with and it is(like I just said) very helpful for the modder(s) to find bugs they may not find.

PS: It is bad to be about yourself then imply you are speaking out for other people as well.

I disagree with you Madkill cause i program for college work and i have to test all of the elemets in the program so everything works, so if you bring out a mod half finished and you rely on others to test it and report problems then you are just lazy and obviousley not good at making mods as you need others to finish things off for you

they're just helping you find bugs in order to get them fixed faster and sooner to make the mod complete.
as you said, you are testing elements of a program, that is what the purpose of a Public Beta is for in general.
And you will always get a question on release date etc.
It is a lot easier to have people aid you in exploiting bugs.

yeah i totally agree with you there but my point is that theese mod makers are kinda takin the mick after like 6 versions i mean it cant be that hard for these talented people with the help of a few others to debug quickly and efficently, can it?

it depends which mods you are referring to, you cannot base them all like this.

yes you can cause a mod is simply a program with variables objects and events that enable it to run inside or along side another program such as a game.

but not all games have exactly the same mechanics.
And not All mods target the same thing.

yeah but the mod maker should know what mechanics his mod is made of and the game are made of because they need to be the same mechanics for the mod to work correctly
