The problem is that no engine easily accessible would really handle it and the teams that had intrest in such things long moved on. Nor would other teams want to implement ideas that weren't theirs. Paradox was a outlier in taste and aesthetics that has not been repeated. I personally am trying to implement a fan-faction we had of paradox into generals, and that's working out, but i'm on my own so progress is slow.

Like, abysmally slow.

Most of this post has some weird iffiness about it here and there, and i am completely lost on what intellectual property tiberium secrets has accumulated and or how that even works with a mod. But what especially strikes me is the "Why Command and Conquer was successful" part. It feels like it completely misses the mark and leaves me wondering what the part was trying to tell me. To take a few examples: "The other core thing that made C&C such a groundbreaking and global success, is it hit on geosocietal politics of the day, in such a way that that it would be relevant and resonant for generations to come.". But the truth is: It didn't. C&C has always had a complete B-movie throwaway handwave plot, it never delved into the cold war or expanded upon it's setting in much meaningful detail. It never truly hit on geopolitical politics beyond simplistic exaggerations or attempts that fell flat in reality later (Generals is a prime example of this).

C&C never really was renowned for its writing. Nor for its simplistic hot takes. the settings it tried building up were largely left abandoned and picked up by modders or fanfiction writers. insight never really was displayed nor did it requires a depth of planning and future insight that is almost uncanny it in it's accuracy.

While I can agree that too much of the CnC community dwells on nostalgia and i myself sometimes do too, most of that paragraph reads like a poor man's management pep-talk.

I'm sorry if this comes over very blunt, but it really reads weirdly. And it doesn't help the point you're trying to make I feel. It probably confounds it a bit since i'm still not sure what to extract from that paragraph.

they pretty much gave up on the engine when it came to light nearly nothing of what they wanted was possible in the engine. making a lite version would just be unneccesary torture.

putting the confederates in generals is probably possible but you'd have to reexport and change most ifnot all models. we never got the textures for paradox though.

Unfortunately, Apocalypse was not only unfinished, but fundamentally not so fun to play. I'll ask to see if they're willing to release the old stuff for it. Sketch still owes me some textures.

Well, not really. We've sifted trough tons of fanfactions just to get the list we have now, and we're not in the mood to suddenly put in more. That said there's always the fanwiki. You need to talk to ProudAmerikan or Protroid.

How about not possible? The paradox staff is engaged, with both life and education and things that take considerably less time then R A 3's coding problems, while the echoes staff lost its only coder. Both groups are probably not going to do anything in R A 3 anytime. You could ask for the beta-beta-beta version with it's wonky game play. perhaps they'll release that. Sketch will release the textures once he's less of a ditz.

The models have already been released, so you don't need to extract them. You would need to animate them.

Well, the paradox wiki was temporarily down due to no reason, but we lost the echoes and CNCfanwiki for good, the host stopped providing the service and took down all wikkii sites. We're still finding a replacement. The Paradox wiki is up again though!
