Hi all
If anyone is interested there is a Kickstarter for Interstellar Marines happening at the moment. The game has Linux has a supported platform (no stretch goals) and will have a DRM free version.

64Bit Linux download now works, game seems to be running fine on the open source Radeon drivers. :)
Installation of the 64Bit Linux version fails with the following error:
"There was an error during the validation process and it has been stopped. Status: The game requested does not have any authorized releases available to download. [38.100]"
Yep. I get the same problem as well. You can try unplugging your keyboard, starting the game and then plugging the keyboard in again. Not ideal but it should stop the spinning...at least it did for me.
I just tried to install the main game and now that is failing to download as well. Sigh. :(
I also seem to have a wonderful issue on one of my other machines running Kubuntu 12.04 with a quite recent build of Oil Rush where the camera just spins in a circle when I start a game. Double sigh... :( I hope someone at Unigine or Desura is looking into these issues.
Does anyone know how to get the DLC installed? Every time I try and install it through Desura the download fails.
No worries. Hope the game sells well and I can get to play it on Linux some time in the future. All the best. :)
Just been playing this game...beautiful and amazing. Thank you for the Linux support Frozenbyte. The game runs very well on my Kubuntu 12.04 system.
That looks better. :) Nice work, keep it up.
Hi all
Just to let everyone know that Defense Grid 2 is currently on kickstarter and a stretch goal is Linux support.
If you are interested get behind it and hopefully we can get Defense Grid on Linux. I have also asked whether they will consider a Desura release.
:) We like to support the awesome developers who think of us Linux gamers.
Tracking...waiting for a Linux build. :) Game looks cool, reminds me of shadowgrounds...but with zombies. :)
Sweet.. :) Has the fullscreen issue on Linux been sorted out with the new build? I have been trying to hold off on playing the game too much in the hope that the update would fix this.
:-( well hopefully it doesn't take too long, really want to buy and play the game.
Sweet...looking forward to it and thank you.
Fun looking game. Noticed the game uses the Ogre Engine which is cross platform. Any chance of the gaming coming to Linux?
Just tested the latest build, input with mouse is working great. Keep up the awesome work.
To anyone else reading this, buy the game. Very polished (for a development version) and has a great soundtrack.
Sounds sweet, can't wait for the new cockpit and content. Keep up the good work. :)
I have been trying to get the new DLC installed, but it keeps failing. Says that the connections have failed.
Kubuntu 12.04 and Linux Mint 13 64Bit.
Yep updated and same problem. I get the impression that it may be a problem with the open drivers rather than the game. Will try my Kubuntu system using the proprietary drivers over the next few days and let you know if the update has fixed the problem. :)
I'm with Ancurio, don't get discouraged. Linux gamers appreciate if a developer tries to port their game to Linux.
I am running Linux Mint 13 and Kubuntu 12.04 (both 64Bit). I will try to report any bugs I see in the game. Here is what I have so far:
When I try to launch the game on Linux Mint 13 (using the open source AMD R600g drivers with a AMD HD5670) I get a crash at start up. This is what I get in the log:
desura[13965]: segfault at 7f74cb6a2960 ip 00007f74fd1b262b sp 00007fff5f69c3a0 error 4 in libuicore.so[7f74fcfe3000+550000]

[drm:radeon_cs_parser_relocs] *ERROR* gem object lookup failed 0xd
[drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Failed to parse relocation -2!
And that repeats in the log over and over again.
It looks like it might be a bug in the open drivers but maybe it will help in the development of the game if you know about it. Also on the proprietary AMD drivers on my Kubuntu install, the game launches ok but there is no mouse or keyboard input as I mentioned a little while ago.
Because there are quite a few Linux gamers on Desura and many of them would like to see more games available for Linux. Currently only some of the games on Desura are available on Linux. Gas Guzzlers is not on Linux but I and many other Linux gamers would like for it to be ported so that we can play the game.
Just one or two things:
For Linux users, you will need to install libjpeg62 from the repository (I had to do this on Kubuntu 12.04 to get the game to run)
When I get the game to launch, mouse works but when I click on any of the titles, nothing happens. Keyboard does not seem to help either. Is there some other dependency that I need to install?
However, the game looks really polished and the background music for the main menu is great.
Running on Kubuntu 12.04 with proprietary AMD drivers.
This looks like a really cool fun game...please can we get a Linux version? Please.
This is looking nice. :)
The new model is awesome... keep it up guys.
