But then the Good Guys™ couldn't steal the things. There's at least two books where the plot would have been completely short circuited if it wasn't possible for random people to just walk in and fly the things.

I know what opaque means, I meant that the cockpit probably shouldn't be an easily visible part of the fighter at all, except maybe for the shape.

That said, it's been a while since I read the books, and I never read the comics at all. So if I'm wrong I'm wrong.

While that is indeed, very cool, and probably not worth changing. I think the cockpit is supposed to be opaque, and then there's the head tentacle thing that the pilot puts on that connects the fighters senses to their brain.

Is it just me, or is her head way too big? In fact, her model looks a bit wonky in general. (Specifically, I was thinking that her arms are too thin, but that might just be a combination of her head being too big and all the other characters in the shot are male and some are in armor.)

That would probably be a good idea.

1:45 While that's cool, I feel like the chairs would be integrated into the floor in order to avoid exactly that kind of thing.

fomah @ The Mod Explained - Part 3: The Tech System

The new republic/galactic alliance actually did quite a bit of tech development, mostly counters to various advantages Bong tech initially had over them. Like stutter fire for star fighters, the Yammosk jammer, and so forth.

Large Address Aware, it's a thing that let's 32bit executable use the full 4gbs of memory, though it only works if it's on a 64bit system with more than that. It's often used in for installing mods that are a lot bigger than was intended in older games.

Regarding the texture size limit, is BF2142 LAA? And if not have you considered it when looking at that size limit?

ST:BC disagrees with you, but then in that case the Galaxy class was the main character so it might not count.

What's the Romulan commander talking about? It's fully possible for a galaxy class to take on two D'deridexes, just ask Star Trek Bridge Commander! Of course that was in a nebula where the Romulans cloak didn't work properly if I remember right, so it might not count.

The Defender is supposed to have a hyperdrive, this thing was designed to directly counter the X-Wing.

What have you been smoking? Those things are terrifying! A group of four of them were able to completely wreck the Sovereign, two other ships, and Kessok reinforcements.

This thing, it's the thing you saved those phased plasma torpedoes for. Nothing else was good enough... (Though I could just be bad at BC.)

Yeah probably, and it's not like they're going to be simulating that in STA:3, I think anyway.

Not in the slightest, the bottom shields on these things were crap, just attack from below and they would pretty much fall apart with very little relative effort. The hybrids on the other hand...

Just as long as you don't put in the hybrids, am I the only one who always saved the phased plasma torpedoes for those guys because it was pretty much the only way to guarantee a victory?

I seem to remember it being limited to those two back then, that might just be my memory playing tricks on me because it's been a while and it's just makes so much sense. It might make sense as a late game unlock, sort of an indication that the Tauri have now reached the level at which they can match even the Ancients.

Well, in the original version of this mod it could be used as the defenders special space weapon thingie on any planet it was constructed on. (Earth and Atlantis, if I remember right.) No idea if they're doing the same thing again.

OK. Most of the books are from "Elite squadron" perspectives so that explains why I didn't quite know.

Wasn't the T-65 variant quite outdated by the time the Vong war rolled around? I'm pretty sure it was something like twenty years old and they were using X-Wings that were called X-(insert semi random number) types. Like the X1 and X2 and so forth.

Edit: I mean, it doesn't actually make any real ingame difference, but it's something that struck me. (Don't worry, I hit it back.)

I hate to break it to you, but that's not a tie interceptor, unless I've completely missed how the naming system works with the abbreviations. Which is admittedly, more likely.
