Yeah I unfortunately lost the team I was working with and the issues that need fixing are beyond my skills.

The modding for Civ5-6 was never as open as 4 so a lot of things would not even be possible I think.

Hi, this is a weird quirk that we could bnever figure out the reason for. For me it would randomly do this every now and then. One trick that worked for me was creating a shortcut for the mod on the desktop then running it from there a few times in a row and suddenly POP! it works just fine.

Unfortunately I no longer appear to have the shortcut on my desktop to share the code of how it is done.. I have shared it a few times around here so if you try digging through some of my old comments you may find how it is done.

Hi everyone, I had to more or less stop working on this because of health and a lack of team, the project was just to big for me to continue on my own, and frankly working alone is just boring..

Was it a very small map?

If so try a larger map, sometimes on smaller maps it cannot find enough places for all civs to be placed. Try a larger one.

Hi ya, thanks for posting.

The answer is yes it is normal for them to be priced that high (though full balancing is not yet done).

In essence the idea is that you are not supposed to 'easily' build out everything (It is the Apocalypse after all). You have to pick and choose carefully in the beginning for maximum effectiveness, saving for a great many turns to get those initial major project of civilisation off the ground. However compared to standard civ there are a lot more yields to be gained from tiles and buildings and specialists asthe game progresses (if my memory serves things a good improvement on a good bonus will put out a total of 20-30 yields compared to maybe 6 or 7 in civ).

The early game is very slow(I have/had many ideas to fill up the early game with stuff to make it a bit more engaging(events and the like, as well as the current ability to attack your neighbours without going into all out war), but there is a lot of waiting around at the moment as you scratch out your existence in the wasteland.

In answer to your second question, no it cannot be changed in the worldbuilder but it can be changed in the xml which is easy. Just use a word processor (like notepad++) and look in I think it is.. assets/xml/terrain/Civ4improvementinfos.xml or possibly in units/buildinfos then look for the entry icost under your chosen improvement, change the number and save it and off you go.

If you would like some help or play tips (although in fairness it has been a while since I played!) feel free to PM me.

There may be some hope in the future as a fellow modder is working on a new xml editor, but that does not solve the issue of a lack of community involvement or interest..

Yeah I am really still hoping to find some people to come on board with it again. The frustrating thing is that it really doesn't take a lot of skill to mod Civ4, mostly just word processing.

To do what I need to do though takes a lot of time and energy that I don't have due to heatlh.

To get the new release finished I need to design 100s of content entries, Traits, Units, Buildings. If we include events then it will quickly escalate to 1000s probably.

I can't do that in isolation, for one thing it is just no fun..

Without community involvement there is just no motivation to do anything..

the NCR and Legion already have those units.

I had planned a lot of things, but I don't have the health or energy to work on this solo anymore. Maybe if I get a new team I will continue work, but at this point I am not optimistic..

hmmmm... are you using 7zip to uncompress it?

If not try that, otherwise try redownloading.

I just checked it and it seemed to be fine for me. it unzipped so fast I didn't even see a progress bar!

Glad you are enjoying the mod, I just wish I had the energy to work on it again..

Just to put it out there, doing the ncrons as vehicles sounds like a genius move, if you could do it that they have 'bits' blown off and then 'reformed' when repaired that would look terrifying!

I think I have had this problem with mods before..

I think I had to disable the 'min spec warning' and then it resolved itself.

It's a random glitch that occasionally randonly shows up, bu7t I can't remember which of the random solutions works..

Sorry

hmmm.. I am not sure what the problem is there.. all I can suggest is a redownload/reinstall..

I am trying to think if I have encountered this kind of problem in the past and what fixed it, but I don't have an answer..

Sorry

yes this is a problem that seems to be random..

We have found no uniform cause or solution and it does not happen for everyone.

I sometimes experience a crash at start up (Something like 1 in 10 I would say)

I found launching from a shortcut seems to help, and trying to launch it a few times in a row. Then all of a sudden it will be just fine.

Hello, I remember many moons ago there being talk of a 'manual' being released with the mod, did this goal ever get completed, or was it abandoned or still in development?

ah rats, hmmm I must have mis-structured it. Sorry about that.

I am kind of taking a break from modding at the moment, it was just taking too much energy.

Some people do experience crashes for no reason that we could ever fathom, as it doesn't happen for everyone.. it just boggles the mind!

I don't know...

The only other thing I can suggest is maybe redownload in case the download got corrupted first time...

Are you using steam?

In steam the path is doubled up like this:

Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Fallout-TTW

Does that solve the issue? If not PM me.

Sorry, unfortunately the mod is not compatible with Mac. This is because it uses a custom .dll and whoever did the porting of Civ to Mac neglected to put in the support for this.

Sorry there is nothing I can do to help. It is a sucky part of CivIV on Mac..

Also you can try switching off xml caching in the same .ini file. If you don't know how to do that you can PM me.
