Thanks for your feedback, sorry to hear you're not entirely happy with Dwarf Quest. We're currently working on a number of large improvements, including a mode with randomly generated levels. That will certainly increase gameplay time!

This expansion will be a free update for everyone who already owns the game. We aim to release it in Q1 of 2014.

Hi Thorbenn, thanks for your interest! And yes: you can indeed download the original trilogy from 1992. Have a look at this blog post: Dwarfquestgame.com

Direct link: Dwarfquestgame.com
(To run it, you’ll need an emulator such as DOSBox for PC or Boxer for Mac .)

Cheers! To be honest I do not have any plans to release a Windows demo, but if there is enough demand, good chance!

Hi jonharson!

Here's the Unity manual entry on savegames:

Docs.unity3d.com

"On Windows, PlayerPrefs are stored in the registry under HKCU\Software\[company name]\[product name] key, where company and product names are the names set up in Project Settings."

I wish it was done differently as well. Based on everyone's feedback, I'll definitely look into storing savegames in a file instead.

Happy August 24th everyone! Exactly 21 years ago, the very first Dwarf Quest game was released. And exactly 1 year ago, Dwarf Quest 1 came out for iOS... time flies!

To celebrate, DQ1 will go on sale this Wednesday: $0.99 for iPad and iPhone, $1.99 for PC and Mac.

Hello! A Linux version of DQ1 shouldn't be too hard to make, it's just that currently I don't have easy access to a computer that runs that operating system. With a bit of luck, publishing from Unity should be straightforward.

The current focus is on Dwarf Quest 2 however - more news on that very soon.

Hi there! Unity games store their saves in the registry actually. I'm afraid you can't simply copy a file over to another computer.

Hi Brian, as gonsi already pointed out, the creators of Pitman and myself based our games on shared inspiration. The two titles play quite differently however!

Hi everyone, we're currently working on the sequel. In order to make Dwarf Quest 2 the best game it can be, please help us out by taking this short survey:

Thanks a lot!

Sorry to hear that, Docdra! What kind of machine and OS are you running?

Thank you, that means a lot to us!

We're working on a level generation system for the sequel. Part of it will also appear in DQ1. I'm afraid I cannot promise a release date for either part 2 or the update yet. As soon as we have news to share, it will be right here on the Desura page!

I enjoyed watching part 1 and 2! Very fun commentary. :)

(Seems there's a glitch in the sound of part 1 though?)

Wuuf: I'll put your vote for Linux down, starting to get quite a few requests. Haven't tested Wine myself, sorry!

rizaloo: no, all 9 levels in Dwarf Quest are hand-crafted. However, a content generation system is in the works. Truth be told, it will take some time before that update will be available, as we're fully focused on making Dwarf Quest 2 now. The update to part 1 will definitely happen though!

lugum: thanks for your interest and support!

Goetten: as mentioned, Desura keys for Bundle owners are upcoming!

Crimsoncuro: sweet, let us know what you think!

Aerouge: completely understood. If we can fit it into the schedule, we'll make a demo. Otherwise you might want to check out a playthrough on YouTube?

Toyotame: glad you appreciate it! Dwarf Quest for Desura took a bit longer than I hoped, otherwise a key would have been included in the Green Light Bundle already. So it's only fair to make it available as soon as I can.

pysiu: combat in Dwarf Quest is turn-based. Each turn you have three action points, which you can use to move a square, attack, defend, use a healing potion or switch gear. You can also use Battle Cards to boost your skills, for example a +1 on attack during the entire fight, or a +3 for a single strike. When your moves are up all of the monsters take their turns. Hope that helps!

Aerouge: there currently is no demo, and to be completely honest, currently there are no plans for a demo. If there's enough demand of course we'll make one!

lugum: personally I'm very happy with how Dwarf Quest part 1 turned out. However, I'm also very excited about the sequel, which is currently in pre-production. The second game will be even better than the first (of course), but it will be a while before it will be done. In the meantime, I hope you'll consider checking out DQ1.

The bug you mentioned (getting stuck early in the game) was fixed a long time ago already, so no worries there!

Cadaver is a great source of inspiration indeed. We'll have another, better look at it for part 2.

stinkytaco: please let me know if you have any additional questions about the level generation system. As I mentioned in my previous post, it's in the works and part of it will actually be added to Dwarf Quest 1 as an update.

Thanks everyone!

Kuznetsovsky: currently there's no demo, no. Sorry!

Draugr: thanks for your support and the kind words! We'll send you a Desura key as soon as we figure out how to do that. :) Oh and Dwarf Quest 2 is already in pre-production. It will be bigger and better, improving just about everything about the first part.

torham1: we'll look into Linux support, thanks for the request.

stinkytaco: no, the 9 levels including two boss fight levels are hand-crafted. However, a random level generation system is in the works for Dwarf Quest 2. Part of this system will also be released as an update to DQ1 sometime in the future.

stevsel: no, there's no leveling up. In this sense, it's much more of a board game experience: fast and elegant. Along the way you will however find items and especially Battle Cards. These cards boost your skill in combat and allow for more tactical play.

Lunick: yes, we'll look into sending all Green Light Bundle owners their Desura keys as soon as possible.

Thanks for your interest and patience, everyone! For glory!
