From what I've managed to decipher, it seems to be a few legendary recipes for various ancient delicious meals and beverages made with giant carrots. Then again, my knowledge of such languages has not been varified by anyone else other than a mad rabbit with whom I've been talking when going into that strange world. Oh cr... Uhm, I wasn't supposed to talk about that. Forget I've said anything, ok? PLEASE?! The queen will kill me if she finds out. Oh sh... the queen, yeah, I must make her carrot tea or she'll have me beheaded. Uhm, right, you didn't hear... read that. You didn't, ok? I'm out of here!

It looks awesome! Do you have a day-night cycle or are there specific levels that are in the day and levels that are in the night?

I wasn't interested in such an explanation, but that video should be great for the ones that are, so it's all cool

The guys from Larian did a shout out for you guys, by the way!

Kickstarter.com

Hope that brings in a few backers.

Not very interested in co-op to be honest, but I'm glad the KS campaign is going quite well so far! Good luck!

Cool stuff again. That thread I promised on that forum will have to wait a bit (maybe someone else notices the game; if not there's time...), since it turned out I'm going on a small trip on the same day, the 30th, hehe. Good luck with the campaign though! You know you have my full support!

Lovely! The game looks much more fluid now, both the actual movement and the way things react to your actions and all that. The fire effect looks better, but still very dull. It looks way too much like some orange glow when it should look like... well... fire! Its texture is wrong I guess (maybe it's a placeholder anyway?). It's shaping up quite well to be honest. I still remember the first time I saw your game with those prototype videos that looked quite silly, haha. It feels like it hasn't been very long since then, which to me makes the progress seem really good. Can't wait to see the KS launch and point others to it (as it's the only things that I can do, as I said before). Cheers!

Fixed bones... YAY! The new things look really cool! Uhm, one suggestion I have this time is concerning the hair. Try making the texture applied to the head darker, like he has really short hair. The hair mesh put on top of that should look a little better I think. I've seen a lot of games doing it like that. Maybe you did already and I'm not noticing it. Anyway, good luck with everything once again!

Drakenreiter - - 29 comments @ Pre-Alpha Key Contest!

Just like the other guys here, I hate that website... a lot actually! I'll post here something. If that works too, awesome, if not it's fine too.

So, why should I get a key? I don't know where to start really... I just love the concept of the game and the fact that it does things differently, the combat being the most important one. I won't lie, I don't usually like MMORPGs. Everything I've tried has felt really cheap and one of reasons for that was the combat system. I find a game incredibly dull when it has such an automated combat system. Yours seems to be more like the Gothic (I think you guys mentioned this when describing your game?) of MMOs. Also, I don't mind that it's an MMORPGs if it's a good game in the first place. Despite the nature of such a game I like playing alone, I'm a lonewolf most of the time, so I'd like to see that aspect done reasonably well too. Again, I won't lie. I won't give you feedback if I don't find the game itself worthy of my time, but it doesn't seem to be the case with your game and I hope it is that way. One thing that I know from now that I like about your game is the fact that it's has this grimmer low fantasy setting (same as Gothic I guess). Now, I will give you a lot of feedback if I do like the game, especially when I start playing. I did that with Path of Exile for example, so I do have some experience in this if that's what you're looking for.

I don't really know what else to write in here, so take what you want from this post. In any case, I wish you guys and your game the best.

Cheers, Jon

Haha, cool video again. Love how that second area looks, but the bones are indeed too bright. I think they should have quite a dark texture on them instead, something that makes them look old.

As for the Kickstarter, I'm going to let you guys know from now that I won't be able to pledge anything. There were many Kickstarter campaigns I wanted to support, but I just don't have the means and money to do it. I think you know how much I like the game now, so it's nothing to do with that. You'll have to take just my feedback instead. I will make a thread for your game on a forum I spend my time on though. Maybe some people there would like to pledge.

As always, I wish you the best!

Cheers, Jon

The improvements are subtle, but the game looks even cooler now. Now for that animation... did you guys play or at least see how the protagonist from the new Bioshock Infinite does those idle animations with his hand depending on the Vigor/Power you have selected? Let's say it's fire, the flesh from the hand starts burning in a way and the hand becomes half fire. Now, you don't do it exactly like that, but incorporate that idea into a sort of fist animation (I really have no idea how to better say this). The character basically keeps his arm in a tense way, with his fist closed (fingers towards him) and when you decide to release that fire, he opens his fist and points his palms forward releasing it. It's the best and only idea I have and I think it would look simple, but cool. I just hope I made myself understood

Cheers!

Awesome stuff again. Now, I really want to see the water stuff done right. Did you guys play Hydrophobia by any chance? While it wasn't anything big and quite crappy performance wise, it was pretty cool as a game. Do a search on it if you don't know about it (or play it!). The whole game is based around the idea of manipulating water (in a pretty decent scale at that). What I'd like to see in your game is actual water and not a sheet of something jiggly. It should also look less like a jelly. Also, that boulder dropped into the water should have a bigger impact when it comes to the water that gets splashed into the air. It looks nice for the first presentation and I'm impressed just by the fact that you decided to do this. I just hope you'll turn it into actual water as I said earlier, like it is in Hydrophobia or From Dust (another game that has quite a lot of common with your game actually - do a search on it if you don't know about it).

Also, I'm sorry for these long posts, but I hope you appreciate the feedback. I wish I had more time for this. I keep thinking that I would do good after I'm done with school in concept art, texturing, modelling, that kind of stuff, but I keep seeing that I enjoy bringing the actual ideas for a game, which I have many of. I'd like to put my mark into this industry, so maybe this would be a better thing for my future, who knows really...

This is becoming way too long, hehe. So... cheers!

No problem. I forgot to add that I started seeing this also as "a really interesting project", as in what Wolfire's Overgrowth is. I don't even know where this comes from, hehe, but will you ever work with them in some way? Or are you already?! Haha... Also, an idea for your game: maybe add a range of crosshairs in the options menu, with different sizes and shapes. What you have is not a problem, but I'd like to see something like that, but really small. I would say include a no-crosshair option too, but I think it's quite important in your game. Lately I found myself turning the crosshair off in shooters especially (if they allow me to), but there are games where I like having a really small one for interaction purposes. Anyway, cheers and good luck again!

Great concept art, but I (yes, I'm just talking about me here) find the armor itself a bit ugly. I dislike overly stylized armors in general. I like what there is under all that plating though.

Finally, a game that comes with a proper FOV as default! Yes, I love it. This game gives me a very strong "old school game" vibe if it makes any sense. That's not a bad thing, by the way. It just makes me think that this is a game that takes itself as a proper video game and not some cinematic crap like everything nowadays. I think it's really promising and I hope you guys finish it. Also, I think you changed a lot in good since I started tracking this. It's shaping up quite nicely, whereas it was more of a concept when I did that. Good luck!

I gave the Alpha a short go and I like how the game looks and how it feels, but the feeling sure needs even more improving, but I reckon that will come with the evolution of the gameplay part. Also, love the soundtrack... fantastic stuff! Now I'm interested where you want to go with the combat system for example. Have you guys ever played Severance: Blade of Darkness? Because a combat system like in that game would be awesome. Even something like in Mount and Blade / War of the Roses would be great. Also, why this change of camera? What's with the obsession of the character being on a side of the screen and not in the center... or with the really close camera. I dislike this in modern games. 3rd person games need to have a centered camera and not very zoomed in. Also, I'm more interested in the campaign part of the game, since this mode is not really for me. Still, the progress is not bad at all. Hope you can finish this game.

I was kind of stuck once because an opponent destroyed my car in a race and I had no money left to repair it. I started the race again with 0 health, meaning that a single hit would take me out again. I did something that saved me though. I stayed at the back of the pack and carefuly picked repair powerups. It was pretty cool that something like that could happen.

I forgot about this game completely. Good to see you're still working on it! Also, this picture reminded me why I decided to track the game. The art direction is simply fantastic!

Also, are you guys considering Kickstarter for funding? Or is the "Kickstart" in ColdenlightKickstart.jpg something else?

"Ayrhed might turn out to be the most complex, lifelike and immersive game world ever created." You have huge hopes for your game I see, I hope you will finish this game, but others have tried to make something this big and gave up or they released a completely different game than what was promised. You gave us some good reads about the game lately and I give you thanks for that. Now get to work and get the game working and show us some of these things in action, hehe. Also, is the UDK good enough for what you guys want? I read that it's not that good for making such a RPG, but you must know better if you're actually doing the game. Anyway, I wish the best for you and your game, cheers.
