As a Source engine modder this is now permanently in my load order.
Added instructions in description, hope that helps.
Well, I'm glad I made a point to avoid the comments section before playing. This was a very funny, intriguing mod that I enjoyed quite a lot. In fact, I played it through around five times just to see all the outcomes. Loved the basement conversation, though I was disappointed that trying to work around things by noclipping or spawning weapons had no special consequence. xD Definitely an existential game, fantastic work.
I like adventure games, but there really wasn't much to this at all, and I'm not just referring to the length. I can sum up this experience in one word: More. More interactive objects to inspect, more than just spooky sounds when you interact with them, and a little more story in the diary would help. It's hard to care about what's going on if you know next to nothing about it. But hey, I like the atmosphere and the mystery; there's just too little to sink your teeth into. It did give me a scare once, but far more often I felt tense just _expecting_ something to happen when all I got were spooky sounds. I'd like to see this in a more complete form for sure.
Edit: I liked the level design; the room in which you start almost has an antique film look to it and the new props were an excellent edition to the atmosphere.
If you could shoot things, this would be a game. Clearly.
I really loved this. I've played tons of HL2 mods: team-based shooters, two-minute "horror" games that try to scare you, team-based shooters, shoddily put-together HL tie-ins, team-based shooters and, of course... team-based shooters. Yet this "storybook" game is the only one in recent memory that has left an impression on me. The voice acting and music are excellent and they really give this mod an air of professionalism, and the island itself is well designed and impressive. The only thing I believe this mod needs is a run function! There's quite a lot of ground to carry, so I ended up bunny hopping a lot of the time. You don't miss anything, you just need a way to cover those long stretches. Anyway, I love it when a game succeeds in creating a mood and atmosphere and actually tries to tell a good story. It's certainly more meaningful an experience that the umpteenth Counter Strike clone of the month.
Holy crap this looks amazing. The bloom/effects are from the ultra high quality mod sure, but the promise of a new, even more complex DX game, fantastic looking levels, new weapon models and everything... please tell me this will have voice acting.
This is one of the best mods, period. It's so good I confuse parts of it with the original Deus Ex!
at the creator:
Time travel gameplay is extensively utilized in a game called Braid, and in really creative ways. You should check it out if you haven't already.
I'm really disappointed that there's no bot capability. The servers need filling sometimes and who doesn't like screwing around with bots sometimes?
The story is really fanfiction-y, almost like it was combined from the original game + the movie. Good to heard about the new story.
