The biggest issue I see with tiles is that I hardly get a feeling the last tile was important. After I'm done with tile X (while playing of course) and move to tile Z, the tile I was last on is meaningless to me. I don't ever feel like coming back to a tile I've been in.

One other problem I've ran in to (with the tile system) is how players don't really want to walk past a road and road is pretty much the only thing I can use to "guide" from tile to tile.

The biggest benefit I see with the tileless system is that I could make multiplayer work. The way I set up tiles and handle tiles I couldn't go multiplayer directly but would have to set up separate arenas and such for just the bashing part of game. With tileless system I could have everything in multiplayer which I think people would very much like.

I have built some automation to the process. Tile bases are semi unique though, lots and lots of textures for roads, shores and such :)

Yup, it's a tiny dilemma when you're fixing and bringing forward stuff that's barely different visually :D

Thank you for the feedback! :) I like the dark style more as well. I love how the bright one enhances miniature look but it sadly eats away everything else.

Still exploring the possibility of multiplayer; possibly not for story mode, but for arenas. We'll see!

Looks like I first uploaded most recent build with temp map screen. If you downloaded that, hit space twice to get rid off it at start :)

If you're already essentially taking everything in Minecraft, why not atleast make a better texture set? You could take for example Doku's improved set and put it in as main set.

Interesting to choose between one person and a hundred people :)

I must say I feel completely opposite to what Theon and overlordror say. The jumping looks good enough, it feels very chill which isn't necessarily bad. Look at Trine for example, infact, this (Oozi) is faster rolling than Trine.

Puzzle platformers != Twitch platformers.

Not all platformers need to be mario or super meat boy in speed and lack of puzzles. Puzzle games are as strong genre as twitch based ones :)

Lemme know what you think! All kinds of feedback is welcome, even if only the basics are in :)

Very interesting and fun little game :) Only thing I really ran in to was ladders and the "secret cave" exit, character sort of warped high up and fell down on the top when I tried to climb up. Atmosphere is simply brilliant! :)

As you're using Unity, you could make test builds in web? I don't mind downloading the file, just thinking out loud :)

As for feedback. The visual look is sweet and nicely soft and the controls themselves are fire (would work wonderfully with controller too). A couple of things I'd add was a bit of "smoothing" to the player's rotation and movement so that he follows the cursor slightly more lazily (when you move cursor over the character, he wouldn't jump 180 degrees around). The smoothing isn't really necessary, would just add a bit more life to the character as he wouldn't feel like a pawn but a living thing following you.

Second thing, more critique really I guess is related to grass. Third thing too. The light green grass could have slightly less dark bottom so that it would sit better with the ground texture color, as is now it looks like its detached. Also the areas with more grass give serious fps hit. After the barrier you can break and then going to left to the grassy hill. I drop to 15-18fps from 50-75. The grass does look brilliant though, adds lovely atmosphere :)

If you look at the orthographic arts, you'll notice its a tri-track vehicle :) The perspective view sure looks like land raider from wh40k, but considering the orthos it probably looks very much different "in real life" :)
